Interesting... no, that's not really the right word... that the repubs are saying that any criticism of the "war" or the prez is unpatriotic, in fact treasonous. They already used that in the last *real* war... that being 'nam, for those of you with no memories of those years. And speaking of jackasses... seems that the preacher Billy Graham doesn't know beans about apologizing, does he? Neither did his buddy Nixon. No sign of contrition at all... he's just sorry that he was finally exposed. Cold here last night, hovering really close to zero... the record is -3, and we missed it by 4. That was in 1980. The record tonight and the next three nights was set in 1960, I should remember that, since I was walking a mile to school every day then. No, seriously, I was! And Mom was walking 2 miles to work, too. I got up a little later today, about 10:00... went out and got the paper and resolved to not go out again today, so far that has worked. I never did go get milk, that's the only thing that I need, and if I go to the store at all I'll get something fattening, like those three-pound packages of oreo-like cookies... they're cheap, like two bucks. Then I would come home and eat them all. With milk, of course. I'm re-loading Linux on one of the old systems, it's a pentium 75, slow as molasses. I've got a 233 semi-system in the basement, it's in pieces so I can't really bring it up here. It's in pieces 'cause I don't have a case to put it in. I only have one set of RH 7.1 disks (I'm DLing 7.2 right now) so I'm waiting for the 75 to load up. Did I mention that it's really slow? I am remembering to save my work regularly today. 21:53... Karen is once again spending the night at the hospital; I called her a little while ago, and Betty had fallen. Luckily, no major injury, but still... Karen didn't have time to talk long, so I'm gonna call her in the morning before I go to work. I've got Apache running on the linux machine now, but I'm having trouble transferring my files to it, mostly 'cause it's so slow. It will be a good backup, though, once I get it all working. Ham and cheese. That's what I've been living on recently... good stuff.
Another blah day without Karen. Got some washing done, got some geeking done, now I'm ready to go to sleep almost. Gotta eat something first, though.
