I didn't have a very happy sleep last night, weird dreams and the room was too cold for the CPAP to do me any good. I tried putting it under the covers where it was warm and that didn't really do any good either, I wound up just taking it off about 04:00 or something like that.
Got up around 09:00 and Mom was up and we had some coffee and some bubble rolls that she'd made with Pecans on them, an excellent breakfast.
We kinda planned our day, then we went to Walmart to get various batteries and to Atwoods, a farm supply store, to get seeds. While we were in Atwoods, I noticed that they had Levis. I was looking through them and I noticed that they had 501s in my size. Which was weird, 'cause I'd had a guy in Topeka tell me that they didn't make anything over a 38-inch waist. The guy lied... probably they don't sell them in topeka 'cause there's no demand, but they have them in Enid, by golly! Anyways, I bought a pair... it'll be nice to have Levis that actually fit me again.
Mom and I had lunch, talked a while and then I took a nice long nap... I got up around 16:00 or so feeling much better.
I'd called my old buddy Jess earlier and left a message on his machine, and he called about 17:30 and I met him and Brenda at a Chinese buffet and we had a nice supper... the place wasn't as good as the one in Topeka, but it was still pretty good.
As I was leaving Moms to go meet them, there was a black Chevy pickup coming down the road at about 80MPH with a cop right behind him... he finally stopped about a block down the road, but I really think that the kid was seriously considering not stopping at all...
Which reminds me, yesterday coming down here, there were two cases of jackasses passing me at high rates of speed and then being pulled over on down the road. I just love it when that happens, I honk and wave as I go by them! Anyways, after we get done eating, we met again at Puss' bar and grill, a favorite hangout of Jess's, play a little pool and I even drank a beer. However, the place was way too smoky for me, and I was outta there by 20:30... my eyes were burning and watering so bad I couldn't hardly see.
Kinda funny, as I went in the door, the bartender said something to Jess and Jess laughed. I asked Jess later what he'd said, and he told me the guy had said, "I don't know who that big ol' boy is, but I don't want to get him mad at me!" Strange, being referred to as a "Big ol' boy" 'cause that's a long way from how I see myself... but I looked around later, and nobody in the place was over about five foot eight, so I guess the guy had a point, since I'm six foot two and 245.... but I'm still a wimp. It was good seeing Jess again, but he seems to get older every time I see him. We were talking, and we've known each other over 40 years.
And I managed to talk him out of his hat, advertising his business....
