Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

It seems that many people equate patriotism with religion, and I would like to disabuse people of that notion, for it is patently false.

Religion, at least the religions that I know about, tell people that their first duty... *first* duty... is to god. Their own, personal god, as interpreted by... whoever. Their preacher/shaman/priest.

Their god's idea of their second loyalty might be to their country, or it might not. Might be damned near anything... no way of telling.

Scary. Scares me, anyway.

Sometimes I'm too damned serious, and I look that way. Susan straightens me up and puts a smile on my face. So today's picture is dedicated to Susan.

Bad news, hard news, from Groovegarden Shelly... her father died of a coronary yesterday. Send her a note letting her know that you care....

Mortality's a bitch. Dying yourself isn't really that bad, but when the people that you love die, it's just horrible.

Not to demean people dying or anything, but that's why I'm never gonna get another dog... I've outlived two dogs and that's enough heartache for me. There are also a number of people who will really hurt me when they die, but I can't do anything about that now, I already love them.

I could just try really hard to not love anyone else, so that I wouldn't need to worry about having more heartbreak when they die, but I figgered out that if I just make sure that all of my new friends are younger than me, I'll be OK.

Luckily, they don't have the same restrictions.

Love is funny that way, though. It can't be turned off, even if it makes no sense. Except by marriage, of course... that was a joke, y'know?

I've been trying to fix the phones off and on all night, they quit working Saturday, that helped make it a nice weekend. Anyway, I can't get them working, and I think that it's the box that sits on the house, but I can get a dial tone if I plug directly into the box. So it's the connection internally, in the box....

No, it's not, dammit.

I really hate it when I can't figger things out.

I think that I'll call the phone company and have them replace the box anyways... I had a guy that worked for them tell me that it should be replaced a coupla years ago, and he was gonna do it, but he never did.

I had a helluva time getting up this morning, and I'm gonna try to get to bed early tonight... but it's already kinda late for that.

Thanx for being here!
