Strange call weekend, and kinda disappointing... I was hoping to make some beeeeg bucks. I awoke on my own about 07:00, even though I'd stayed up past 02:00 watching TV... I never watch TV. I can't remember what I watched, either. Anyhoo, I got a call about 13:30 and went in and did an inpatient and an ER patient, and that's been it for today. I checked the log to see who'd been doing all of the patients... and there was a blank between 18:00 last night and the 14:00 that I put in the book. That's almost unheard of! So I had a singularly unproductive day, watched parts of the ball games, I think the super bowl will be close this year. But I do predict that the Rams will win it by 10 points. Next Sunday you will find out why I'm not a betting man. A beautiful day today, got up to around 75F or so. It'll be the last one for a while, though... supposed to turn to winter for a week or so. Usually on the first really nice day the motorcycle nuts are out in force, and they were today. Mostly, when that happens, they run into things at high rates of speed, sometimes because of all of the sand on the roadways and sometimes because they're inebriated. But I guess that didn't happen today, or I would'a got called in for it. And made some money. It's rather ghoulish to make money off of other people's misfortunes, isn't it? Sorry 'bout that, but someone's gotta do it.... I hope that JD is having a good time in DC, we haven't heard from him since he got there. He was going to spend some time on the mall ( that's not a shopping mall, y'all!) and I think that was yesterday and today. He'll be coming back here on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to hearing about his experiences and impressions of the area. Karen got back around 17:00, it was sure good to see her. Her mother isn't doing real well... she fell a coupla years ago and fractured her distal clavicle and she formed an A-V fistula on her brachial artery. This has been gradually enlarging and just recently has started to give her pain. Her doctor has said that it was inoperable because of her condition and thought that she would probably expire before it bothered her, but such was not the case. So now they have a coupla options, one is to do an angiogram and place a stent in the artery (this is something they should've done when it happened) and the other is to do the surgery. The third option, which is to let her continue to suffer, is unpalatable. Betty is pretty frail, but her general health is still pretty good, and I don't really see a reason why she couldn't survive major surgery... after all, if she broke her hip, they would fix that. Anyway, the kids are supposed to decide this week and whatever they decide will happen the latter part of the week... Karen will need to go down to help take care of her post-surgery/procedure. So, it's early to bed for me tonight, since I didn't get much last night. And then it will be... Monday.
