Natterings, Notions

Notes

I really hate it when I'm exposed as a dumbkoff.

And it happens rather frequently, I'm afraid....

Today started off OK, I thought. Got up on time, and I took a shower last night, so I didn't take one this morning.

Unfortunately, my morning shower triggers a series of events that normally culminates with me taking my morning pills.

And this morning, without that trigger... I forgot to take my pills. But I did take some ibuprofen for my back, which still hurts a lot.

As I was almost to the hospital, I remembered that I hadn't taken my regular pills... I had known that something wasn't right but it didn't crystallize until then.

I waited a coupla hours and took my blood pressure... 210/109. This is bad, very bad. So I take off and go home and take my pills. While I'm there, I fill up the small ibuprofen bottle that I keep at work. When I get back to work, I pop a coupla ibuprofen and a co-worker asks me what I was taking and I told her. She said, "You take ibuprofen and you have high blood pressure? They told me never to do that!"

Well, they tell everybody... everybody but Doug, who has been on BP pills since 1989. Nobody. Ever. Said. A. Word.

And I never read the insert either, so I must share the guilt.

Well, I can't share the guilt, because The World In General™ does not feel guilty about letting me live with dangerous assumptions. In fact, The World In General™ is snickering... quite loudly and righteously.

So... no more ibuprofen for this guy! I went by Walgreens and picked up some Tylenol™ ... none of this cheap generic stuff for me! Besides, the Tylenol™ was on sale, and less than then store brand.

Karen went back to work today, but she probably shouldn't have, but she did make it through the day. She's not really doing all that well tonight.

So far I'm OK, but my back still hurts a bunch. It's the area from about T-7 to T-10, and it's been a problem ever since I was in high school. It usually hurts a little bit, but I've gotten used to that over the years. Occasionally, it flares up and really hurts a bunch, like it's doing lately. Feels like a cramped muscle, and I have some muscles and tendons that go over the bones wrong in that area, and tend to pull me to the right. When they tighten up, I really go to the right, and you know that's just so wrong!

Usually when this happens it's over in just a few days, but it's been probably ten years since it's hurt this bad. I have had more recent bouts of lumbar strain, which is indeed very painful.

21:30...
Just got back from the hospital... yeah, I'm on call, took it for a guy who's having a birthday today. Anyways, this dope dealer gets shot multiple times. Big surprise... to him, I guess. He wound up jumping out of his window to get away, and he's gonna wind up living if they don't come to the hospital and finish him off... so far, that's never happened, but I've seen it happen in the movies so I know it can.

Anyway, tired, gonna try to get some sleep. The power for the main CT scanner will be off this morning from 03:00 until 05:30, so if there are any CTs I have to do them on the therapy machine, I'll hafta go in 'cause the night techs don't know how to run it... If I'm lucky, there won't be any patients. How often am I lucky? Not very...

Thanx for being here!
