Fun day so far, and I don't expect that to change any...
Lacee stayed over last night, she slept in the spare bedroom with Karen, and I got the waterbed all to myself, and I slept like the proverbial log. Didn't get up until 09:30, and Karen and Lacee were already asleep. Unfortunately, karen had told Brian that she would pick him up around 10:00. I guess that he wasn't too mad at her, since he came home with her.... of course, we hadn't seen him since way before xmas, so there were presents to open. Karen took all of the kids out and I elected to not go with them... not much of a choice, really, if you're me, which I am. About the middle of the afternoon I steeled myself and took the 16X CD-burner back to Best Buy. I was expecting both a long line and an argument, so I was pretty well pleased when neither materialized. After I got the receipt for the burner, I decided to go spend my gift certificates... I got one from JD and Annette, and one from Kim. I'd been wanting a good set of headphones for quite a while, so I got some and they work great. I downloaded a bunch of Narada (collections of new agey music) from the web, and some of it is New Age Irish... beautiful stuff. I love Irish music anyway, and finding it done new age-like is neat. For some reason, I never hear the new age versions on The Thistle and the Shamrock. I'm not really up on new age artists, just Yanni and Mannheim. I need to do some research and seek out some of these recordings. After the disappointment of not getting the 16X burner working, I bought a 24X one from Office Depot. And I couldn't get it to work on my WIN2K machine, so I put it in the 450 and it runs well. And fast. I need to figger out some way of keeping track of the songs that I burn to CD so that I don't duplicate them... I'm using NERO and it kinda keeps track but I can't understand the method there. I got a really nice and complimentary email today from a guy in Sydney... said that my writing was "Superb"! and evocative of beat writing. Of course, I'm taking that with a grain of salt, but it really gives me the warm fuzzies! "Greensleeves" has always been one of my favorites, and the recording that I just heard was glorious. Unfortunately, there are songs that I really dislike scattered amongst the good ones, and I'll have to figger out which ones they are and delete them and re-record the good ones. There are also a lot of spanish-sounding songs and I would like to seperate them and the irish ones out onto their own disks.... Well, OK! Everyone is gone except Karen and I! And it's Saturday Night! And the damned phone keeps ringing!
