Well, I'm *sure* that everyone sat around and wondered what plans Karen had made to celebrate the new years arrival... didn't ya? We had loads of fun... Karen had indeed had a terrific idea! We spent the night among strangers at the Expocentre Hotel, and we had a blast. First, we had a buffet, and that was really good... then we danced until midnight. There was an oldies band, but they weren't really all that good, but it was music, so we danced. And they had balloons. Balloons! Dropped on our heads at midnight! No, they missed our heads, and they missed midnight too, due to a faulty release mechanism, but who cared, really? Nobody, that's who. Earlier, Karen and I had gone back up to our room to watch the ball drop in NYC... I'd seen a news clip of the weather, they said that Houston might get some flurries... and I remembered last year when I was in Huntsville with JD and Annette and they had predicted some snow for Huntsville...never happened, as it were. The ballroom that the buffet/party was in was about a half-mile walk from the main part of the hotel, through a series of glassed-in sidewalks. I had no idea that the Expocentre was so complex, it certainly doesn't look that way from the outside... There were eight people to a table, and we had two vacancies, the other two couples were nice and we all Karen had been up to the hotel room before she came home, and she had left me several little love notes... pretty neat! 16:35... And I need to be wearing the C-PAP every night, especially since I've put on weight (read:gotten so damned fat) I seem to be much more rested when I do wear it. Of course, the problem is the weight. I'm effectively carrying around a 70-pound bag of... something... and it's making me tired. So tired that I don't want to exercise, even though that would be the easiest way to lose it. If I don't exercise, I hafta start eating a lot less, and I'm really liking to eat since I've quit smoking... Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't. So, all in all, I would rather stay fat, 'cause that requires no effort. However, that would mean that I would be tired for the rest of my life and feel crummy, and I don't want to do that. So it's gonna be diet and exercise. Starting tomorrow. Right now, it's gonna be sleep, although it's still pretty early...
introduced ourselves but Karen and I really didn't socialize with them much, we seemed to just concentrate on each other... that's what made the evening so fun.
Heh. There's a guy who plays for Oregon U whose name is Mallard. Mallard, of the Ducks. Nobody could make this stuff up. Good ball game so far, of course I'm rooting for Colorado, the big 12 representative... Karen is in taking a nap, she didn't sleep very good last night, she said that I was talking in my sleep again. I don't do that when I'm wearing the C-PAP...
