Weirdness lurks in the very heart of my computer, as it does in all computers. I don't mean to imply that computers are, in and of themselves, malignant, although I realize that this is the public perception. No, they really just don't give a shit what happens to you or your data or your life, they will continue to do their own things. Kinda like the way a god would think, if there were such things. Anyway, last night I couldn't get MSIE 6.0 to work at all... it would just freeze. (MSIE 6.0 is the latest Microsoft browser, for those who don't keep track of such things...) I had tried everything that I could think of, and nothing doing. So I left the machine on all night without rebooting it. This morning, still nothing. The MSIE windows were locked up, but I could still do other stuff, naturally.... And I was actually late for work this morning. By two minutes. I stopped and got coffee, but the main problem was the &*^#)*$##$%@@ woman who pulled out in right in front of me on 8th street (I had to hit my brakes... hard!) and went merrily on her way... at 20 MPH.(30MPH zone) No, I couldn't pass her, too much traffic. I did honk, but to no avail. Well, yeah, the *real* reason was that I didn't get up on time, or even close to it. Then we had a pretty steady day at work, and I was all done by 17:00, so I deided to leave early. And that was dumb. I left at 17:06 and it took me 25 minutes to get home, it usually takes about 10. And it was very frustrating. Topeka doesn't really have traffic problems, not like other places... we just have heavy traffic occasionally, and the rush hour traffic lasts from 16:30 until 17:30. So we have it pretty easy. I need to remember that, and not leave work early! So, when I get home tonight... the browser windows are working. Just like nothing had ever happened. I'm amazed at how smart I must be. They just locked up for... eighteen hours? That's pretty normal for a MS product, I guess... Skipping back and forth here... even after I got to work I had a helluva time staying awake. As I mentioned before, I had a cold, and when I have a cold, I can't use my CPAP unit...which means that I don't sleep worth a damn. So really, Thursday night was the last good night's sleep that I've had lately... I know, I know, still no sympathy. But without sleep, I'll never get well! Isn't having a cold turn into a life-long chronic thingie worthy of at least a tad bit of sympathy? Well, really, I don't need your sympathy, I'm doing just fine without it anyway. It's past 19:00 and it think that I'll go to sleep now...
