Long, long day, chock full of stuff to do.
Not that I actually *did* that much stuff... I didn't get that much sleep last night, I think that I must've had too much caffeine or something... or maybe just too much excitement. There was a lot of stuff happenings yesterday too.
I did get a little nap today while Karen went to a talk on the available tours. I'm thinking that I don't really want to go on any tours, I'm gonna be happy hanging close around the ship and just relaxing. I might change my mind about that, though. We'll see...
We went to the Captain's reception and dinner tonight, and Karen looked wonderful. For that matter, so did Kim... and a coupla hundred other women, dressed in all of their finest. Karen littered glitter all over the place... I just picked some off of my nose...
The ship started rocking this afternoon, and it's pretty pronounced tonight. Just as I had a hard time with the reality of this huge ship moving at all, I'm surprised at anything that disturbs that motion... I don't think that it's gonna keep me awake, though. After the captain's dinner tonight, Karen and I changed clothes and went back up to watch the broadway show which was supposed to start at 20:15, but they wouldn't let us in, and the guy keeping us out was not very intelligible, he just kept saying "Eight forty-five! Eight forty FIVE!" This was about 19:45; so, we came back at 20:45 and the show was getting started... and we had a helluva time getting a seat. Seems that they were delayed a half-hour, not an hour...
After the show, which was OK, we went up and got some decaff and I got some frozen yoghurt and Karen got some pizza... I forgot to mention the dinner menu... I had lobster tail, Karen had salmon... excellent stuff. And it's so nice to be waited upon so expertly. Anyway, after I spent a short time walking on the deck (the wind was, well, very windy). I've tried to find out how fast we're going, but I haven't had much luck, so I kinda figgered that we're going about 19.4444... MPH, based on the fact that it's taking 36 hours to get where we're going to, and that's about 700 miles, based on a very rough guestimate. One guy told me that we were going 20 knots, but another told me 40 knots... these were both crewmen, albeit ones with limited English. I asked them both to convert that into miles per hour and they both looked at me like I was crazy.
(I found out later that a knot (nautical mile) is 1.1515... miles.) Anyway, we're pulling into port at 08:00 in the morning, and I want to get twelve hours of sleep before then...
that greeted us
