Notes

"+doug +dead +nilknarf +smoker +online +journalers". This was the string that someone typed into Excite.com's search engine to find me. Kinda scary, heh?

Saturday's entry is finally up, I got the laptop out of the bag and hooked into the network. Took me all of five minutes... sometimes even I have trouble believing how lazy I am.

Anyway, for those who are interested, the URL is http://nilknarf.net/j/200111/20011124.htmFor those who aren't interested.... nah, forget it....

I managed to get up a little bit better this morning, even though I remember having very confused dreams about being on the space station and not being able to find the bathroom. I think that I would wake up (once I even went to the bathroom) and go back to sleep and have the same dream continue. I never can get this to happen when I want it too, like when I have dreams of beautiful naked women competing for my body...

Anyway, I got to work with plenty of time to spare, and it wasn't very busy today at all... the boss had called the other tech that comes in at 09:00 and told her to stay home. It was a fairly nice morning, and then another tech went home after lunch, so there were two of us for the afternoon... that worked out pretty good, since the engineers wanted to do a software install. That was supposed to last about a half-hour, but it took about two. We were still pretty unbusy, but the patients were slowly piling up. The other tech left about 15:30, about the time I got the machine back. I finished up the patients in about an hour with no rush.

Coming home in the dark is weird. Really weird.

And again, when I get home and sit down all of my energy flows out of the seat of the chair. I need to be exercising or something like that.

Winter is moving in, and the cooler it gets, the more I'm looking forward to our cruise.

The cruise: to make a long story short... Karen bought us into this cruise last March or something like that. At the time, I was pretty upset when I found out about it. For one thing, she hadn't discussed it with me, and for another, well, it was a frivolous waste of money.

Well, of *course* she didn't discuss it with me... she knew I would say no.

However, I gradually got over that. She did get a good deal on it, and it is going to be a wonderful vacation.

I've even decided to leave my laptop at home. I really want to be able to concentrate on Karen, and besides, the damned thing would probably get stolen... I'll keep up the journal in a notebook, and come back and transcribe it sometime within the next six months...

We'll be leaving early early Sunday morning on a luxury-liner bus heading to Galveston, Texas. We'll get in there about 19:00 or so and there is a motel already booked for us. Then we'll get on this huge boat the next day and sail off into the sunset. Well, I guess that we'll be going south, to Cancun for a coupla days, then a coupla other islands down there, then we'll arrive back in Galveston at 08:00 on Saturday morning.

But, instead of getting back on the bus and heading north to Topeka, we'll be getting picked up by JD and/or Annette... to go to JD's college graduation! It's been a long hard row for him to hoe, and I am so damned proud of him! And it will be nice seeing him and Annette and Tyler... anyway, we'll spend several days with them, then either JD will drive us back, or we'll rent a car or maybe hitch-hike back to Cold Topeka... and, inevitably, back to work.

We are really getting anxious... it's gonna get down to 17F tonight... and it'll be so nice in Cancun...

Thanx for being here!
