A better day... I think that the new antibiotic has kicked in. Still really tired, though. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, but what I did get was restful. The tussionex does the job mostly, I only woke up coughing last night a coupla times. But the codeine does strange things to my head, of course. For one thing, it keeps me from sleeping. The other thing is itching all over. I kinda remember that from the last time I had it, this constant but not unpleasant itching. I know that it's hard to imagine itching with "not unpleasant" but I really can't think of a better way to describe it. I was doing the patient care in the CT room today, and I only hit a coupla veins on the first shot. Some days are like that, and other days I just can't miss. And, although I missed quite a few on the first stab, I got them all on the second... didn't have to call in the back-up stickers. Cloudy again today, just like yesterday. Mid-60s but cloudy. They've been calling for rain, but not with very high chances, and we've not had a drop... I think that my attitude has changed quite a bit today, not that I'm pretty sure that I'm not gonna die from some mysterious ailment in the near future... In fact, I must just come out and state that yes, I'm happy to be alive. Joyous, even. Looking forward to tomorrow, even. Some days... some days I feel that the world benefits from my existence. Yeah, that sounds pretty egotistical, and maybe that's all that it is... but there were a few people that I took good care of today, so I improved the world by that measure. And, relatively speaking, I did a lot better than I have on any single day for probably the last month. Still, I'm going to bed early tonight again, after dosing up on the tussionex... O'yeah, I looked up the spelling, I've been spelling it wrong for years. And it doesn't have codeine in it, but uses hydrocodone, a synthetic substitute that has fewer side effects. I really don't like the side effects that I've had with codeine, I thought that I perforated my stomach here a few years ago when I stupidly took some without eating; I had to have Tyler get some milk out of the fridge for me, I was unable to get out of the chair I was in so much pain... the milk cured it, though, and it cured me from not reading the instructions *every time* I take a new medication....
