First things first: Happy Birthday, JD!!! In other news, I came home and the cable modem was happily blinking away. "Cool!" thought I, "I have my email back!" Wrong I was. Yes, I was connected, very well, in fact. However... DNS seemed to not be working. I could get anywhere on the web, but only with numbers. It couldn't find names at all. Not even for the mail server. Luckily, I knew the numbers for the mail server, and plugged them in instead of nilknarf.net, and I was able to get my mail. But I couldn't send mail that way. Well I dinked around with it for a coupla hours before I gave up. Karen had fixed a scrumptious supper, salmon on rice, and I figgered it out as I was eating. I went to Karen's computer and tried the web... it was working perfectly! Back to the nilky900... still not working. Re-booted the damned thing, and everything is now copasetic. Who knows? Damned computers. Anyway, I now have the laptop hooked up to the network, finally got it figgered out. I haven't decided if I'll leave it running like the rest of the machines or not... right now, I'm leaving it off, just on general principles, not really knowing what's best for a laptop. Did I mention that Karen and I bought a Bunn coffeepot last night too? Bunns are wonderful... the last one that we bought lasted about 15 years. Pricey, but a pretty good investment. I figger that I might outlast this one... well, it's a toss-up. Other brands that I've bought generally last about two years, and cost about 40% of what this one costs. Plus, this one makes a full pot in about three minutes... great for mornings. It seems that I was going to have a lot more to say... O'yeah, sleep! I ain't getting any. Went to bed last night at 22:30, and woke up about 23:30 with that awful burning in the throat that means that you're going to vomit. I didn't, but only because I stayed upright. Did I mention that I've been getting fat? Well, one thing that plagues fat people... hiatal hernias. I've really crossed the line now. It's almost enough to start me smoking again, dammit. That and a bunch of other things. Don't worry, that won't happen. I will not let that happen, I will not. It was another rough day at work, still a person short, and another 2.5 hour biopsy in the middle of a busy schedule, again leaving just two of us there. Luckily, or maybe it's fortuitously, tomorrow is Friday. Unluckily, and even unfortunately, I'm on call all weekend. Starting tomorrow, and ending at 07:00 on Monday. Luckily, the night techs are getting much better at doing CTs, so I won't get called all that much. I will get called during the days on Saturday and Sunday, though, I might as well just plan on working full days... none of the day tech do CTs. But that's OK. We need the money, as usual. Anyways, I'm tired, and I haven't eaten for several hours, so it should be safe to go to bed now.
