Busy day at work, partly due to patient load, partly due to the fact that our new software was working well, and we kept trying to work with the new features while we were doing patients. There are a few things that will save us time in little chunks, and that's really nice. Like auto-archiving. You would think that that is a basic thing, not a bell (of bells and whistles fame) but it's a bell, added two years or so after the original software. Or maybe it's a whistle, who knows? We were also delayed because one of the radiologists decided that we need to do max resolution on all of our routine scans so that we could use the new 3-D imaging software if we wanted to. Unfortunately, that's not gonna work out... the length of the exposures and the tube heat generated during those exposures just won't work. In one case, we would have had to wait 40 minutes in between scans, waiting for the tube to cool. This would really be hard on the x-ray tubes, too. This afternoon there was a really big thunderstorm that hit us, lotsa lightning and heavy rain. I heard that it was happening, so I stood for a few moments in the ambulance bay and watched, reflecting on all of the cigarettes that I'd smoked there, watching storms of various sorts, and a lot of nice weather, too.... Eight weeks, today was. And I just keep on getting fatter, I think, and I still haven't done anything about it. Anyway, fall weather is upon us, or a least a cool spot is here right now. As I mentioned yesterday, this weekend is supposed to be really nice. I went out to Sam's the other night and got ten pounds of meatballs for a party that we're throwing for a retiring radiologist tomorrow. Working nights, I never participated in things of this sort, so this is kinda fun... although I'm slightly jealous of the guy... he started at the hospital after I did, and now he gets to retire and travel all over the world... and that's just the first two years. And tomorrow is Friday... that's nice. Y'all have a happy Friday, then.
