Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Thursday, 23 August, 2001 21:43

We had a nice series of thunderstorms pass through last night, starting about the time that I went to bed, 23:00. We got a lot of rain, all of the cracks in the... I almost said lawn.... yard are gone. I must confess that I missed it all... I was out like a light when my head hit the pillow.

And it's starting up again tonight, too. Been thundering for quite a while, just started raining about a half-hour ago. Supposed to rain all night and all day tomorrow... I guess that our dry spell is over now, heh.

Gary Condit really seems to be a slimeball. Just my personal opinion, of course.

Not to change the subject, but I don't want to get started on politicians.

Anyway, I bought a laptop today. A Toshiba... Andy bought it last spring, and decided that he couldn't afford it. Well, hell, I can't afford it either. It's pretty, though, and relatively fast... about a 566 or something like that, with a six-gig drive and a DVD player and a built-in modem and a LAN port.

I've wanted a laptop ever since I saw my first one back in '86 or something like that. About four years ago I bought a slow old used one off of someone on the web, and it never did work worth a damn, and pretty soon after I got it it quit working altogether. Nice doorstop... but this one will last me a while, I think. Still has the guarantee on it in case it doesn't...

I've still gotta load my software up on it, haven't done that yet... I'll need a coupla hours just to figger out what I want to put on it. I've been figgering out what Andy had on it and culling that...

I'm happy that tomorrow is Friday, this week at work has been busy. Karen and I are going to Wichita, her brother Chuck is going to be there again, and it's karen's sister Debbie's birthday on Sunday...

Which reminds me, tomorrow is my own dear mother's birthday! Anyone who wants to send her greetings can do so at wilma@enid.com. Happy Birthday, Mom!!!

Well, it's raining cats and dogs right now, so I'd better get this off before the power goes off... and damn, it just did there for a minute. I better hurry!

Thanx for being here!
