Nice day here in Topeka... I got up kinda early, about 09:00, and the grandkids were here already... Kim had to work this morning.
Goofed off until Karen left with the kids to go meet Kim, and I continued goofing off until JD and Annette got up. After they'd breakfasted, JD and I went out and worked some on the hot tub, but it proved to be too much for us... there are a pair of screws that won't come out and there is no way to drill them out, either. They are on part of the circulation system, a valve that I've never used and never will... but one that leaks. So I'm gonna have to cut the pipe out and hope that I can attach something to the stub. Too damned much like plumbing. And you know what I think about plumbing. And I'm sitting here thinking, I *knew* that I forgot something when we were at Mom's this last weekend... the upstairs stool kept running, because the chain got under the ball valve. I was gonna fix that, but never got around to it. Mom had the stool turned off when we got down there, and I turned it back on... and it's probably been running since we left, but I hope not! Anyway, we all went out to Target this afternoon and got some necessities... and we ran across some mechanical, battery-powered cats. Only $39.95... I think that we will probably start replacing our cats with the mechanical ones, just phase them out gradually as they retire... uh, die... no need to hurry the process. Although the flesh/blood ones are pretty irritating... one of the reasons that we went out to Target was to get flea spray. When we got back, JD and I (mostly JD) steam-cleaned the carpet and the furniture in the living room and the kitchen carpet. Looks nice now, and hopefully we are now flea-free. Fleas never seem to bother me, and they only get on Karen about every five years, but as soon as JD and Annette got here they leapt on them. Fleas are funny like that... Mechanical cats are definitely the answer here. Do they have mechanical fleas yet? Or just software bugs... We then got cleaned up and we all went out to the Olive Garden. Had a nice meal and everyone had a good time... we all enjoyed each other's company. We got home and watched the KC Chiefs win their second pre-season game. They might actually amount to something this year, y'know? Poor Karen still has a hurt face, so she took her pills and went to bed early tonight... and JD and Annette will be leaving something in the morning on their long drive back. It has been awfully nice having them here, and I hate to see them leave.
