Another crummy nights sleep in Enid. It's partly the bed, I think... but mostly my mind.

Mom and I went out after breakfast to get some groceries for lunch, and we ran into cousin Reta at the store. She was coming out as we were going in, and I knew that she looked familiar, but I didn't really recognize her... she was dressed in her Sunday best, I think that I've only seen her in blue jeans. Additionally, I wasn't really thinking that we'd actually run into anyone that I knew in Enid.... Reta looks in on Mom frequently, and lives pretty close, and occasionally takes her to the store and to run errands.

I picked up some slim-fast while we were there... yep, gonna try that for a while, see what happens. I've never seriously tried to lose weight before, just talked about it. Since my triumph with smoking, I do have confidence that losing weight will be a snap.

Losing weight and exercise are also key to getting my blood pressure down, too. Additionally, lately I find that I'm short of breath a lot because my diaphragm is a lot higher than it used to be, what with my gut occupying so much more room...

Anyway, Karen and I left about 14:30 or so, and got to Topeka a little after 19:00... I wasn't really paying attention to the time, but I did fill up the tank so that I could check the mileage on the Camry... 27.5 MPG with the AC on and going uphill (Kansas is north of Oklahoma, isn't that uphill?) Anyway, I think that's pretty good, considering that we drove 5 MPH over the speed limit all of the way.

Shortly after we got home, Karen turned on the KC Chief's game, they're doing pretty well. 'Course, this is a pre-season game, and absolutely meaningless...

Well, back to work tomorrow. It was a really nice weekend, besides getting to spend time with Mom, I got to spend a lot of time with Karen, and that's always wonderful...

Thanx for being here!
