Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Eh, no philosophy tonight, sorry to disappoint... but I'm just too worn out.

Started off the day at the dentists office, and I got a surprise, a nice one for a change. The broken tooth was fixable... what had happened was that a tooth-colored filling had come out. So he deadened that tooth and put in the crown while the anesthesia was taking hold.

Normally, I need a coupla days ahead in order to properly dread getting a local anesthetic in my mouth, but maybe it's better this way. I did what I could with the few minutes allotted to me.

Then I trotted on to work, about a half-hour late. It was already getting hot. I'm so tired of hot, humid and rainless... we're supposed to have a 50% chance of rain tonight, hah hah. However, tonight as I was coming home, there was a brief... shower? Not really a shower, more like a few errant... very errant... raindrops. There were a few high clouds, but nothing that looked like it could produce any rain... and no, there was not a flock of birds, either.

I was supposed to get off at 17:30, but I was doing an ER patient at that time, that took me until about 18:00. I was getting ready to leave and I thought that maybe I'd check out the ER before I left. On the way down there, I noticed a bunch of cops and security people in the ambulance bay.

They were bringing in a fellow with multiple stab wounds, and he was being a jerk about it... he didn't want to come in.

To make a long story short, this guy's wife or GF had stabbed him with a steak knife. As it turned out, she stabbed him in the heart... he was still alive when I left, and everything was in place to save him. Interesting CT scan.

Anyhoo, it was 20:00 by the time I got out of there. Karen had been to the dentist today, too, but she wasn't so lucky. She had broken a tooth that was associated with a bridge so the bridge had to come off... and it wouldn't... and then it did and the tooth was so broken that it will have to be removed by an oral surgeon. Then the bridge has to be rebuilt...

She spent like two hours in the chair... and she was hurting tonight when I got home, since they had to literally hammer the bridge off.

And it's past my bedtime now... Karen's been in bed since 21:00.

And I still haven't been sleeping worth a damn. I need to get used to this day shift.

And I'm still not smoking. And neither is Deb or Lynda!

Thanx for being here!
