Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Well, I didn't get a call until about 10:00, so I got to sleep in. Trouble is, I don't know if I have the ringer on or off in the phone that I installed in the bedroom... I haven't been in there to hear if it rings when the others do or not! So I laid in bed awake for a while wondering, then I got up and checked the caller ID and there had been no calls...

It has been a pretty pleasant day... I've been called in four times, nothing big or exciting, though. Karen and I watched another movie... Boys Don't Cry... it was pretty good, but I didn't like the ending. Hell, I hardly ever like endings anymore. The last ending I really, really liked was Mary Poppins...

Hot here again, of course. Heat index 110F or something like that. Being outside is horrible. I've driven the subaru in every time I've been called... the toyota truck doesn't have AC.

Tyler got to Huntsville about 02:30 last night, according to JD... unloaded the music stuff and went over to sleep at his mom's house, where he'll be living.

I sure hope that he does well down there... he didn't seem to be really sure about his motivations when he talked about it. He needs, of course, to "find himself" as we used to say. We used to say a lot of stupid things, thinking that they were profound. We also said a lot of profound things, thinking that they were stupid.

There needs to be a better way of life than starting off stupid and gradually getting smarter and smarter and then dying, all the while watching the next generation do the same. Of course, a lot of people never make it to the getting smarter part, so I guess that we're ahead of them, anyway. For what that's worth, which is absolutely nothing...

I'm taking call tomorrow night, too... one of my coworkers called and asked me if I could cover from 18:00-20:30 for him, I told him that I'd take the whole night. He'd covered a night for me when I was in the hospital, and I want to get everyone paid back for those days. So now I've got two out of three... I like to keep way ahead on favors to my coworkers.

50 years ago today... the great 1951 flood. Wiped out a lot of Topeka and other places in Kansas. Karen told me that it wiped out the KP&L power plant where her dad worked in Parsons. The plant was on the Neosho river, which runs into the Arkansas somewhere near tulsa... in fact, it might flow into Grand Lake there, I can't remember...

Which reminds me, we haven't been down to the Grand Lake area for quite a while, we might have to spend a weekend down there this fall...

Thanx for being here!
