Four more nights... but who's counting? Heh.

Busy last night. Made worse by the fact that all of the evening help is new, within the last two weeks. Makes more work for me, of course, 'cause they don't get stuff done very efficiently yet. And I'll be gone by the time that they get good at it.

Anyway, I ran until 01:30, then I got a chance to get the paperwork done. The rest of the night was pretty good, with one exception... when I shot my 05:00 ICU portables, I noticed that one patient had a 80% pneumothorax. Noticing things like this is not in my bailiwick, of course, but I told the nurse anyway, since it is fairly critical to the patient's care that this is taken care of promptly. Unfortunately, my word is very unofficial, and the nurse has to have an official report for the cardiologist... so I have to send the film to my doc and wake him up to read it. Naturally, he called it 80%... but he made a hundred bucks when he did it... all I got was the satisfaction of giving the patient a better outcome.

Of course, that's why I do what I do in the first place.

They caught the guy who did the hit-and-run of the patient that I mentioned yesterday. The patient (the guy on the motorcycle) was sober and coming home from work. He had just celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary the day before. The guy in the car was drunk and driving with a suspended license for previous DUIs. He is being charged with second-degree murder. I hope that they lock the son-of-a-bitch up and throw away the key.

Gonna be a nice day today, high about 90F and sunshine. Make my grass grow! Yeah! So I can cut it!

Tyler was over last night, sober again and fun. Almost everybody is more fun to be around when they're sober, y'know?

He's gonna take JD to KCI tomorrow... I'll hate to see JD go, and I'm still pissed that they couldn't find anyone to work for me, damn 'em. We would'a had some nice fishing days here...

Thanx for being here!
