Five more nights.

Last night was busy for most of the night. About the time I started getting caught up on my paperwork, they brought a code red trauma in. Diverted, I must add, from the other hospital.

This fellow weighted about 350 lbs... he'd evidently been riding a small motorcycle (with his helmet on) and been hit by someone. He was found by the side of the road, and his helmet was off, and his bike was three or four blocks away.

Worked on him for an hour or so, but it was obvious that it was a losing cause. He most likely had a head injury, besides having some pretty massive internal injuries. I didn't get to take any x-rays so it's all guesswork.

Anyway, an indicator of how busy it was last night is the fact that we sent five patients to ICU from the ED, and two more went to Kansas City hospitals. One because the patient was a 400+ guy with a fractured cervical spine... we couldn't get decent scans on him, and they've got an ultra-big scanner in KC for people of that size. Plus, the patient was from KC anyway, so he wanted to go there. The other patient was a pediatric patient with a head injury.

Matt is moving out tomorrow, and it's a damned good thing. He keeps letting his cat out and the monster keeps beating up on our cats. I'm sure that he just does that for kicks, and it pisses me off. Or maybe he is just really that stupid, which still pisses me off but it doesn't really surprise me any...

And I'm pissed off because the cable is out again. I need to call them and express my displeasure. So anyway, this probably won't get out this morning.

I've been trying for a coupla days now to schedule my back class and the guy keeps not returning my calls, but he tells my supervisor that it's really important that I go to this class... I just tried calling him again, but he's not coming in today.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the Great Topeka Tornado...

Thanx for being here!
