First things first... the colonoscopy went well. The doc was 30 minutes late getting there, though, but I was laying down in a nice dark room and dozing so that was OK too.
He just found one polyp this time, in the rectum, and he removed it, of course. Said that it looked benign. Come back in three years, if you're still alive. O'yeah, stop smoking those cigarettes. As expected, I had a crummy night, not much sleep, and it was really hard to get up once I did get to sleep. I took a shower before I went to bed, and I noticed that the water pressure was low. I checked around the house to make sure that a pipe hadn't broken and everything was kosher, so I figgered that there was a break in the line somewhere upstream. Well, there was, kinda. Seems that lightning had struck some pumps at the sewage processing plant and there was a major problem when sewage backed up in the water supply. How the hell that could happen I don't know, since they are (should be) separate systems. So that was the cause of the low water pressure last night... they'd opened up most of the fire hydrants in town. Again, I don't really understand what good that would do... So, we have to boil our water until they get it figgered out. Luckily, we do have bottled water (thanx to Matt) but not a lot. Hard telling how long this will last. The primary schools are closed, but the junior high and high schools aren't. I started paying bills on-line tonight. I've resisted it for a long time, but I got convinced. Took quite a while to get it set up, but it'll pay off in the long run... now I can actually pay the bills when I get them, but not have them paid until the due date. I'm always forgetting the due date and I wind up paying late fees, which is outright stupid. It's throwing money away, and I work too hard for my money to do that! Anyway, after the colonoscopy, Karen and I came on home and I had some coffee and ate some toast. I wasn't really all that hungry, 'cause when I woke up from the exam they gave me lotsa orange juice and cookies... cookies and drugs and orange juice, whatta combination! So I was pretty well blitzed for the rest of the morning. I went to bed about noon and Karen gave me a back and leg rub and I thought that I would go right to sleep but I didn't... just laid there for 90 minutes and did nothing. It was kinda nice, not like not being able to sleep when I know that I have to... just laying there relaxed. It was the drugs, I'm sure. Tomorrow will be a fun day... I'm going to Lawrence to meet up with Groovegarden Shelly and we're going to go someplace and have lunch and get to know each other. I've been wanting to meet her for five years now, and I finally get to! I got busted earlier today... Karen and I were thinking about going out for supper, and I remembered someone telling me how good the meat was at Herman's butcher shop, so we decided to do a steak at home. Well, I went inside and this other guy came in right after me but I paid no attention to him... the counter guy asked me what I wanted and I pointed out some juicy-looking top sirloin and the guy who was standing next to me said, "He's not allowed to eat that!" I turned and looked at him... it was one of my cardiologists, dammit! I told him that the steak was for my wife and my dog... I don't think that he bought it, though. And it's that time again... I'm suddenly really really tired, it's been a long, long day.
