Another beautiful Kansas day... light breeze, about 80F. No, I'm not taking advantage of it. I'm sitting here typing.
The back continues to get better; I saw the doc today and he said that I could go back to work tomorrow only if I would ask for help in moving patients. I immediately agreed to this. The nurses that I work with at night are really good about helping when necessary.
I also finally made the connection with the colonoscopy scheduler. She had told me to call at 08:30, and I did. And every five minutes after that, until 08:55, when I finally got an answer. Gonna have it at 06:30 on the 21st of May... it's not something that I'm looking forward to.
The exam itself isn't bad, in fact, it's pretty interesting. Lots of drugs are involved, but I've always had the doc wake me mostly up when he gets ready to do anything interesting, like pull off a polyp. The painful part in the insertion of the colonoscope; the withdrawal part isn't, comparatively. And they don't really do anything interesting until they start bringing the scope back.
And it is pretty interesting seeing them cut a polyp out on the monitor and being able to (kinda... there's all them drugs, remember) feel it at the same time.
Anyway, the bad part is the bowel prep. 24 hours of clear liquids, starting at 07:00 on Sunday... about 15:00 take an industrial strength laxative... another dose at 20:00... then got to bed. O'wait... scratch that last part. You don't get to go to bed, you're on the throne all night!
Still, there are a lot of worse things that can happen to you. I really think that it's more fun than going to the dentist...
Which is where I'll be heading tomorrow morning. Getting the root canal that was started two weeks ago finished up. Looking forward to that, heh. Heh heh.
Then back to work tomorrow night. Yeah, I'm kinda looking forward to it, after a week of forced inactivity. I'm planning on taking it easy, though, as much as possible.
19:47...
So... I'm tard of this day. No, I'm tard of being awake, is all. It hasn't been a bad day, I just should'a been sleeping instead of reading. I'm reading a book by Koontz, "Out of the Corner of His Eye" or something like that. Besides reading on the web in between.
I like Koontz... I think that the first time I read anything by him was coming back from Oregon after my first trip out there after I had my coronary. I enjoy his style... direct and bloody. King is indirect and bloody. Both of them give me the chills sometimes.
Karen's watching Millionaire; sometimes I'm in the mood for watching that, but not very much anymore. I really dislike watching commercial TV. I do watch the weather channel when the weather gets interesting, and I usually watch headline news once a day or so.
Speaking of news... a cop in Alaska said that the guy that cut the kids up there was shouting religious stuff, stuff that made no sense whatsoever. many people have called that statement redundant...
I'm glad that there was nobody killed up there, but it was still a very traumatic event. We really need some laws to protect our kids from religious nuts.
And I need to lighten up a little, too, come to think of it. Most of the people that I know are religious to some extent, and they're mostly nice people. I seem to focus on the 10% that aren't, simply because they make so much noise.
Of course, it is partly the responsibility of the other religious people to keep them in check, and those people don't seem to be doing very well at that. If enough people just sit back and watch and wait, bad things can happen.
And *that's* the truth.
I forgot to mention that I couldn't get to sleep last night. Tried several times, and I finally did about 06:00, then I got up at 08:00 and I've been up ever since.
