Well dammit, I got no sleep and the bones didn't heal. Well, actually, I have nothing the matter with my bones, other than the fact that they're older than they used to be... it's the other associated stuff.
So I went to bed about an hour after Karen did last night, got to that hypnotic state... and then she got up to go to the bathroom. Absolutely blew it for me. I laid there for another hour trying to get into a position that didn't hurt and every time that I was about to go to sleep I'd have a muscle spasm in my back and get woke up again.
I finally got to sleep about 05:30, and I was up again at 10:00 when a thunderstorm rolled through.
Since then we've had about five mini-thunderstorms come and go, with sunlight in between and even during. Interesting. I haven't looked at the radar today, but I'll bet that they're forming right over our heads and moving eastward.
So... I just checked the radar and guess what? I was right. Which should surprise nobody. Well, mom, maybe.
Anyway, I'm getting really tired of sitting in this chair, but it's really the most comfortable place for me to be. Walking hurts, I can't get comfortable at all laying down. And the damned pills don't seem to be doing much. Of course, to prove that last statement, I'd have to go without them, and I'm not willing to go that far.
17:00...
The back is somewhat better... I haven't had a major spasm for a coupla hours now.
I belong to a small group of atheists that are part of the American Atheist Association, and we're kinda getting together ideas for picketing the Rev. Phelps sometime within the next month.
This is kinda going out on a limb, at least for me, and sorta scary, too. Unfortunately, I brought the subject up so I'm part of the deal at this point.
The idea is to demonstrate that gods in general are stupid, and that even if they existed, they would have little or no interest in our sex lives. Well, actually, the *whole* idea is to promote the dissolution of superstition. Phelps is a good one to start with since we're more likely to get exposure and publicity with him as the target. It's still undecided if we'll picket at his church or one of his favorite scenes as a counter-protest. I really think that the latter would be more fun.
But anyway, this is all in a really preliminary phase right now, someone might come up with a better idea, or everybody might chicken out. We can probably only get about ten people there for the first one, and less than three wouldn't be worthwhile at all.
Or maybe it would... I dunno. We'll see.
20:35...
The screen on the window in my room is torn, and two of the three cats have now made the computer room their preferred method of egress and ingress. The little one has recovered from her surgery (OK, *its* surgery) and is constantly in and out. Yesterday Lacee was over and she wanted me to keep the little one in, so I closed the window.
So here comes this cat hell-for-leather and *thump!* hits the glass. She remains perched on the two inches of sill that's left when the window is closed and shakes her head several times and then gives me a really dirty look.
She then leaves, tail up in the air just as high as she can get it.
Three minutes later she hits the window again. I don't know if I got another dirty look from her or not, my eyes were teared up from laughing so hard. I told Lacee that I just couldn't do it any more and opened the window again.
She has been approaching the window much more cautiously since then.
One of the emails that I sent to the atheist group has been caught up in a loop... so far I've received 50 of the same message, about seven minutes apart. It's getting tiresome, to say the least. And some of the others are getting them too, but not everyone. Weird.
Time to try to get some sleep.

Karen and Lacee...
How does Karen
manage to close
her eyes before
every picture?
Well, the big thunderstorms seem to be forming between here and Lawrence now, so we're probably out of range until dark, anyway.
Cat news: We've got yet another stray cat roaming around the house (on the outside, still) who desperately wants to be part of the family. I think that it might be in heat, too, from the way it sounds.
