I did manage to stay up all night... unfortunately, I stayed up most of the day, too. Didn't get to sleep until around 11:00. The wind beating on the house woke me up about 15:00.
We're still having wind gusts up to 65MPH, and we do have lots of little limbs that have been blown out of the trees. Nothing big, though. Karen said that there was a tree down the block that was blown down, and there are always some in the park that are lost.
Supposed to keep blowing until around midnight, but it will taper off after dark. So they say.
I'm in my usual not-enough-sleep mood... I'm not really ready to go back to work yet. I might not ever be... but that doesn't matter at all. Need to keep those $$ coming in, dammit.
I did get something done today... I planted the plants that mom gave us. I was planning on planting them when we got home, but I was too tired. And it rained yesterday. They did look pretty good, though, and I'm confident that they'll be OK. I tell you what they are but I can't remember... some sort of ground cover with pretty little flowers. I put them in the boxes out front, the ones around the trees.
I came to an end on my winning streak with FreeCell, dammit. 514. There are only about three deals that it's impossible to win on, out of, O, 87,000 or so. I hate the thought of starting all over again. Maybe I just won't. I played 75 hands when I was down at Moms... I do think that I'm addicted. I need to find something better to do with my life.
I had a call on the answering machine today, my VP wants a brief meeting with me re: the 30-year dinner thing. I need to write the number down and try to do that this week.
They make a big deal out of this, and maybe it is, but right now I feel that 30 years is way too long to stay at any institution. I'm really not all that happy being there. I still love my work, of course, but I have grave doubts about the people that I work for.
But their impact on me is, right now, minimal. Daytime will be much worse unless I actively avoid it, which I plan on doing. Not that I'm ever going to get a chance to find out...
Which is my main beef, of course.
Well, I have frittered away my time here, I must go to work now.
