Paybacks. Are. Hell.

I know, not very original, huh?

O'well... you get what you pay for.

I set a personal record for the number of CTs that I did last night - 14. That was in the first seven hours. The last five weren't so bad.

Two of my evening co-workers stayed until 01:30 doing x-rays. Interesting night, some interesting patients. One guy with an huge epidural hematoma (in his head), drunk and fell down some stairs. He was still in surgery when I left, so I don't know if he survived or not.

The problem last night was the usual one... the other hospital wasn't accepting patients. How the hell they get by with that I don't know. Topeka is a two-hospital town, neither hospital has the facilities or staff to handle the load without the other one operating.

To top it all off, I only got about four hours of sleep yesterday. Just could not get to sleep, and I would have only had three hours if I hadn't slept for an hour longer than I should have... just barely made it to work on time.

This has really been a yo-yo rotation... good sleep one day, bad the next, etc.... I do not like that at all.

And I do not like being this damned tired, either. The last four nights (or five, really... Wednesday wasn't that bad) had lulled me into thinking that I really like my job. Now I remember why I want to go to days!

Raining here, has been for a coupla days, I think... I haven't been paying attention to the weather or much else, either. Although I did notice baby Bush rattling his sword this morning in the paper. It's really hard telling what happened over there, but I do fear that it could get out of control. Does this mean that I don't trust Bush to make the right decisions? You bet yer sweet ass.

After work today I went ot pick up some pills and then I went to vote... we have a mayor that I really liked but she didn't win in the primary, probably because everyone thought that she would and didn't go out during a blizzard and vote for her. Well, I wrote her name in, as a great many other people probably did.

The county also wants to spend 24 million on a sports center. Say, that's just what the kids need... more sports. Forget this education crap, let's just keep them out of trouble and off the streets! Yeah, I voted against that, too.

I didn't have time to shower before I went in last night, 'cause I got up late, so I'm gonna go get a shave and a haircut and a shower and go to bed.

Thanx for being here!
