Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Another pretty blah day. I did get a few things accomplished, though.

I got up early, thinking that I'd take a nap and stay up all night, but no nap for me today. And definitely no staying up all night!

I think that it probably got up to 60F today, but I didn't hardly go outside except to get the trash bins in from the street. It was supposed to be crummy, with snow and rain, but none of that has happened yet... there's still time, though.

I spent some time working on the 566, and found that I'd blown the IDE board when I messed up the disk drive trying to set it on 100 instead of 66. Finally I figgered out that I could just switch the cables with the CDrom drive... pretty simple solution, but I'll only be able to put one more drive in the case that way.

So I got that figgered out and loaded the OS, and it went to find the drivers for the old, old video board that I'd put in it 'cause I didn't want to buy a new one. It found something and loaded it and proceeded to quit working. Well, it's still working, I can hear it and see the lights flashing... but nothing shows up on the monitor. Bummer... I'm gonna have to get another video board anyway.

After Karen came home, Kim called wanting to borrow a plumbers snake, and she also reminded me that I said the kids computer would be ready today. I had to take the NIC and the camera card out of it and install a CD Drive and a modem, none of which went smoothly. Story of my life. But I got it going, anyway. So now it's setting by the door, waiting for her or Steve to come get it.

I just got off of the phone with JD, he seems to be doing very well. He was able to secure some grants and a loan, so he'll be able to make it through his last... what, only nine months! of school. He's planning on coming up for a week or two in May after the semester ends... I'm trying to have him get a job up here during the summer, but he has a class that he can take that will make his last semester go a lot better so he should probably do that, darn it.

I got an e-mail from Eileene apologizing for missing breakfast last week... she didn't manage to get out of bed. I know that feeling well...

I don't know, I might just stay up all night anyway, it's the only way that I can get any sleep tomorrow, and I'll need that sleep. For some reason or another, I'm not really feeling that tired any more... that's probably temporary, though.

Usually, after a week off, I'm kinda looking forward to getting back to work. After three nights off, I'm not.

Thanx for being here!
