Anyways, I did get the pictures of my (at that time clean) computer room, so here they are. It is, I'm not gonna put them all out here. Talk about yer overkill...
The other picture today is of Karen and me and her mom. The special significance of this one is that it's the very first picture printed with the new printer, and Karen was pleased.
It's been a long day, it has. I didn't get to sleep until about 02:30 last night, and I was up by 08:00. Karen was still sick, so she called in again. I do believe that she's better tonight, but I know that if I tell her that I'll get my head bitten off, so I'll just keep my trap shut about it.
She's not generally in a very good mood when she's sick. I guess that none of us are, really...
So I spent most of the day in the computer room, switching parts and cussing... I got JDs old computer ready to give to Matt finally. It was a real bugger, but I got it done. Matt seemed very grateful, as well he should. Hell, I even had to put some memory in it for him so it would run WINME.
The one that I'm giving to the kids is going to be much simpler. All that I need to do to it is take out the NIC and put in a modem, of which I have several.
I wound up tearing up the Linux system yet again, but this time was a really stupid hardware mistake. I decided to set the ATA on the HD to 100 instead of 66, which is the maximum that the board could go. So I had to put it in the 900 to get it reset, and I decided the hell with it, I'll just take the 8GB one out of the 450. I haven't got around to doing that yet, though.
Once again, I'm getting discouraged with Linux. The trouble with it is, of course, me. I give up too easily on it, don't see it through. Too many other things to play with, I guess. I really don't know if I'll even try to set it up again, I just might make that another WINME box. Or sell it to Tyler at a deep discount... he's looking for a machine, and this one might just be good for him.
The more that I think about giving up on Linux the better it sounds. The problem is, I know that I'll always know that I could've done it, if only...
I would just hate that. On the other hand, there's plenty of stuff to learn about WIN2K. I could keep myself occupied with that for the rest of my life...
Speaking of which... my life... I need to be getting prepared for sleeping days here real soon. I go back to work on Saturday night, and I'm really used to sleeping nights. Liking it, even. But I really don't think that I can stay up all night tonight, I'm about ready to drop off sitting here typing.
Nasty weather here... rained all day, then about 16:00 the north wind started blowing, and before dark there were snowflakes mixed with the rain. We're supposed to get a coupla inches, but I don't think that it'll happen.
Un. Mayhaps I spoke too soon there... I just looked outside and it's coming down pretty good, and sticking pretty well. Happily and hopefully, that'll be the last time that this happens until next winter. I am getting tired of cold weather, and I'm ready for spring but not for summer. I'm never ready for summer, 'cause when it's summer I'm ready for fall.
Right now, I'm ready to fall in bed, and so I will...
