Natterings, Notions

Notes

Once again, we cancelled the trip to Wichita, dammit.

Karen worried all night long about the car breaking down, and nobody else in the family seems to have a car that would make it there and back... so. We should've just rented a car and gone, but we thought of that way too late.

So we spent last night kinda working around here, and most of today too. Nothing big, just a lot of little stuff. There is still a lot of little stuff that needs to get done, though. We'll never run out.

I made an attempt to clean my desk off... I have way too much junk that I can't throw away. And I did throw a lot of junk away, too, it's just that there's so much that I can't, and I need to find a place to put it.

It rained most of the night last night, but Karen wanted to go out to eat, and she wanted to go to Olive Garden, a place that I'm not very fond of. But I was accommodating, so that's where we went.

Yeah, we went there, and the wait was going to be 45 minutes... so we left. Went across the street to Perkins and had breakfast. Probably cost about half as much, and the service was excellent and the food was good.

And it was still raining this morning, but it cleared up about 14:00 or so, it was really nice there for about four hours, and now it's raining again.

20010224 Tonight Karen fixed some excellent pork chops in the grill and rice and green beans... an excellent meal. And we cleared off the bar and ate there for the first time... don't know why we never did that before, it's been there for more than a year.

I don't know if I brought this up before, but we have a deal here lately where she cooks and puts up the leftovers and then I clean up. It seems to be working out really well so far. There's no question about the division of labor, and I think that she cooks better knowing that she doesn't have to do the dishes!

Karen got her hair all cut off today, and she looks really good. I keep telling her, year after year, how nice she looks with shorter hair, and every time she gets it cut off she tells me that it feels and looks so good that she shoulda listened to me sooner.

Then she forgets and wants long hair after about two months.

I'm glad that I don't have such troubles.

I'll try to get a picture of her tomorrow, if she'll let me.

I'm getting to be an ebay junkie. I almost bid on a bunch of computer junk today that probably duplicates the computer junk that I have in the basement. But it was so cheap!

Right now, I have almost all of the stuff that I need on the way. One monitor that I got yesterday evening isn't, they're closed on the weekends. Once that's paid for and on the way, all I need is a little more memory... it still seems to be going down price-wise, but not really very much. What's the diff, really, between $68 and $70 when you're only buying two pieces? Well, yeah, it's four bucks, but not worth the extra time and hassle of getting the very best price, especially when you can get outbid so easily.

On the other hand, maybe that's why I'm not rich, heh.

Anyway... gotta get that car fixed. Transaxles ain't cheap, and I really can't see getting someone else to do it, and Andy has kinda offered to help me with it. Or maybe he just kinda offered to let me use his garage...

I really hate cars. Cars and trucks. Every vehicle that I've owned has been much more trouble than it was worth, it seems. And I always pay too much and have to sell them too cheap. Hate them.

OK, enough.

Thanx for being here!
