First off... Happy Valentine's Day! For those of you without valentines... gee, sorry 'bout that... I meant valentine as in people, not those silly pieces of paper, of course. Although I'm also sorry if you don't get those pieces of paper, either, if you really want them.

Roses are nice, too. If you want roses, I hope that you get roses. Karen will get one, and a card and a poem. Well, I still have to buy the card and the rose and write the poem, but she'll have them when she gets home anyway.

Or maybe I'll go down and have lunch with her... that would be nice.

Well, I won't do that, the weather is getting too nasty for me to want to go out again. Drizzle, and the temp is right at the freezing point. It will be bad driving, especially in my little light truck... so I just won't do it. I did go out to get Karen some flowers and candy and the rain wasn't quite freezing on the windshield yet.

I was going to get roses, but they had some potted tulips or something that looked really pretty, so I got that instead. And the candy in the traditional heart-shaped box, natch.

Jury duty... they settled all of the cases, so that's not hanging any more, but done with. And speaking of hanging, I didn't get to take part in hanging anyone, dammit.

20010214.jpg More importantly, the threat of jury duty kept me from doing other things on my days off like visiting mom. O'well, next time.

And I don't get any extra days off because I was on jury duty, either. Bummer all of the way around, it was.

So it's back to work tonight.

I'm not really looking forward to it like I usually do.

But then, I usually don't...

On the brighter side... Karen's brother Chuck and his beautiful wife Judy just became grandparents for the first time! Chris and his wife had a baby boy, Preston Justis Neilson, in Baton Rouge, LA. It was a C-section, and all are doing well.

Preston was the name of Karen's mother Betty's brother who was killed on D-Day in WWII; Justis is a maternal family name.

I had another bad night sleeping, and that's probably a good thing; I think that I'll be able to sleep for a while now. I think that I'll go test that theory...

Thanx for being here!
