Well, I got nine hours of CEUs done yesterday, better than I thought that I could do. I might even be able to get them all done today if I really keep working on it.
Another crummy night sleeping... I seem to be getting a pattern here... sleep for two hours initially, then get up for a coupla hours, then back to sleep for three or four hours.
I sure will be glad to go to days. Someday... whenever.
It's another gloomy day... last night was really foggy, visibility down to 1/16th of a mile at times. Supposed to rain today, then a wintry mix tomorrow, showers the next day and wintry mix again on Friday. Pretty typical February here in Kansas.
Not that we have to like it, but we do have to live with it. I will do the avoidance thing, I'll just stay inside mostly.
Well, I guess that I can't, really... I have to go buy cigarettes. It seems that after every failed attempt to stop, I smoke more for a coupla weeks.
And it's trash day, too, so I'll have to get outside to do that too.
13:57...
Regardless, I'm tired. I've been looking at stuff on eBay for the last hour or so... all of the good stuff that was there before is gone now, and the prices seem to suck. This is most likely a cyclical thing, I don't usually get on in the afternoon. And all that I look at is the going...going...gone stuff anyway. What's the use of bidding on stuff that's two days out from the final bid?
O'yeah... I cleaned the fan up... the one that I have in the computer room. Took it outside and used a brush on it after I disassembled it. Very dirty, it was. It's one of those oscillating jobs, 14-incher. I've had it running almost continually for two years... it was definitely worth the $20 that I paid for it!
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to getting the income tax refund and starting to buy parts for the new computer. I just wish that I could afford a 19-inch monitor, but I guess that'll have to wait a while. The tax program that I use said that the funds would be deposited by the 26th of this month, but previous experience has shown that they're faster than that... so that's why I'm on eBay looking around.
I somehow feel sorta guilty building a computer right now, but I'm not gonna let that stop me. I've been using the same one for two years now, and the monitor for almost four, so I'm due. And it's not like I'm not known for being more than a little bit self-indulgent...
I've kinda gotten out of the habit of including a picture every day, and I really want to start doing that again. I have all kinds of photos that I can scan (and that I need to) and a digital camera (although I'm not really too fond of it) so I really have no excuse but laziness.
Laziness is a pretty good excuse, though, but I've overused it a lot. I need to be able to justify my actions better by blaming other people, the way that the rest of the world does.
That old personal integrity thing gets in my way, though. I know that it's hard to both be personally integral and lazy, but I feel that's one of my biggest accomplishments in this world so far.
O'well... at least, I know that I'll never have a chance in politics, anyway.
Popularity, however, is a whole different thing. I have some stuff up about Napster and every time Napster is in the news, I get a buncha hits on it... about 30K so far, which, by internet standards, isn't really very much. It's a whole bunch more than this journal gets, however. I haven't updated the site in months, though, and I'm always getting email (mostly from AOL people) wanting me to help them solve their Napster problems. Or their general computer problems... whatever. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, depending on their attitudes and my mood.
Well, it's official now... brother Dan (Jon) is moving to the University of Maryland again. Well, damn... I really liked NC! On the other hand, I'm looking forward to visiting him in DC again, too. The University had a really nice press release (?) but I don't have a link to it right now.
Well, that's silly. It's right here! (Gee, I hope that isn't copyrighted... or that I don't get caught!)(I'm sure that Dan'll let me know...)
And I haven't got a damned thing done! Well, I got ciggies and I put the mirror on the truck, but other than that... O'yeah, I now have won 100 straight hands at FreeCell.
