Damn, but I'm tard!
Another rotten sleep day. That's, let's see, three in a row (holding up four fingers.)
Last night was pretty uneventful. Except for the tard part. I'm getting more and more enthusiastic about working days and, conversely, the nights... they seem to be a-draggin'.
And I know that I was happy working nights up until a month or so ago. Well, you couldn't tell from this journal that I was happy, but I was, pretty much. With the hours, and the days off.
Hmmm... this journal. It will be a-changing, too, y'know. I anticipate that I won't gripe nearly so much about work, 'cause there won't be that much to gripe about. And I won't gripe about not sleeping, 'cause I'll be sleeping just fine.
But don't you worry none... I'm sure that I'll find plenty enough to gripe about. I don't know what it'll be yet, but I'll find out.
I don't really anticipate going to days for probably six weeks or more. They're talking about getting a temp tech, and I know that'll take at least that long... and there aren't many tech available in the area, and none that I know of that'll work thirds.
The students will graduate in September... that's the next best chance, but that's a long, long ways off.
And, generally, graduating students simply do not have the experience to work third by themselves. There are rare exceptions, but they have their choice of jobs, and very few people prefer to work thirds.
And, in fact, there are all kinds of exciting places out there to work... who the hell would want to come to Topeka, USA? New York, KC, San Francisco, N'orleans, Denver... all hurting for techs. Let's face it, the people who have been brought up here and trained here don't really want to stay here.
Luckily, not my problem. Well, not directly, anyway.
My problem today is staying up long enough to get turned around right. Karen is going to waken me when she gets home, but I know that I'm not gonna want to get up, but I have to, else I'll sleep until 02:00 or so then be up the rest of the night (and off all week with my sleeping.)
I really need to clean up this pigsty of a computer room. My desk is piled with... piles. Of stuff. I'm kinda afraid to look, but somewhere near the bottom is the notebook from our vacation in Sept/Oct... I still have to write those entries, dammit. On top on that, in not very distinct layers, are papers that I have to file and save, receipts, etc.
I actually though about taking before/after pictures, but I don't have the guts to post something like that... I'll wait and do one after, maybe.
Right now, I'm gonna play some free cell (about all that my mind is capable of) and hold on until noon, then hit the sack.
