Long night... and a long day.
I stayed up all night last night, goofing off and playing that damned free cell. I guess that I slept too much yesterday or something. Probably the psychic release of smoking left me rested. Or the shame of not quitting made me unable to sleep. Something.
So, it was not very productive. O'yeah, I could'a been productive, but I'd rather be lazy, given the choice.
Today, however, I had to pay the bills. No choice there. Dammit, I want to pay bills when they come in, but I don't... I just let them lay there and pike up until I can't stand it any more. Then I ask Karen to do it... and she does the same damned thing. So I get them back again.
Bummer, paying bills. Damned people want their money... like, so what? I want their money too. And I want to keep my money. Can't I keep my money, just this once? Huh? Huh? Damned gas company.
Another bummer... a woman in Michigan faces up to 15 years in prison for furnishing her 15-year-old son with condoms. How stupid is that? No, no, she should *not* give him condoms, he should get diseased and die, teach him and her a lesson. And the girlfriend(s) too. They all need to get some morals, heah?
23:00... not even tired yet. Guess I'm back on the night schedule again for some stupid reason.
And they were supposed to decide on the CT job on Friday, but I haven't heard a thing... wonder what that means? Nah, I'm pretty sure about what that means... it means that I dust off the resume. Wait, I don't have a resume... guess that I'll have to make one, then.
I'm still rather enthusiastic about a traveling job, that would be fun and probably lucrative... that would be my first choice if this doesn't work out.
We had a momentary power outage this evening as I was DLing the second RedHat disk, at the time I was getting 500+ KB/sec. Well, that file, which was 92% done, was trashed 'cause it wasn't closed. It took a half-hour to get back on-line, and now I'm DLing it at 15 KB/sec... got over nine hours to go. It'll probably pick up when everyone goes to bed, though.
I've got to get a new battery for my APC powercell, since it didn't work this time. Really, it's done pretty good, lasted me about three years. A new battery will probably cost me more than a new one, though, so I might just do that and use this one as a conditioner for another machine.
This is the first time that it's failed... last time this happened, I had about two minutes to get shut down, that was more than a year ago. Of course, it has kept up with the momentary lapses regularly up until now... we seem to get those on a regular basis.
Still, much better'n California, I guess. And we get snow and tornados, too!
I think that I will try to go to sleep anyway... I think that it'll work.
Speaking of work... seems that my counterpart didn't take me up on my offer, so I'll be working Wednesday night on schedule. No problem, I guess.
