Natterings, Notions

Notes

So OK. It's over, for a week, anyways.

I did get a good eight hours sleep yesterday, but the night hammered all of the energy out of me, as usual. Although there were some nice periods occasionally. One of those nice periods was enhanced with a nice backrub from Tresha, a nurse who owes me many. I'll get them all back, gar-on-teed.

I came home after work and messed around until time for the doctor appointment... I was on time and this was the right day, even.

To make a long story short, I'm lookin' good, as I said the other day. BP is 135/74, which I really really like. I'd been getting higher readings at work on the automatic machine there, but the doc said that was because I had an irregular rate, which throws the machine off.

So I'm set on the BP for another year probably... or maybe for longer than that.

'Cause tomorrow I'm quitting smoking.

Yeah, yeah, you've heard it before. Almost from the beginning of this journal I've been saying that. All of those pitiful failed attempts.

I'm waiting until tomorrow so that I can get a good nights sleep before I start stopping... I know that I couldn't do it with the sleep deficit that I have right now.

Uh... what the hell, I'm going to start exercising (walking) and watching my diet too. I do eat a moderate amount of salt, and I really shouldn't eat any. I'm not going to stop altogether, just be more careful in my selection of foods... like, no chips, especially.

We always have potato chips around, and I eat them, not because I like them particularly, but because they're there. And probably for the salt, too.

So, I just won't eat them, even if they're here. Karen loves them (she is disgustingly healthy) and it really wouldn't be fair of me to tell her not to buy them any more... I can exercise a little discipline here, I think.

Anyway, today's picture is the last that I'll ever take of me with a cigarette in my mouth. So bookmark this page, No, wait, don't do that, bookmark This page. Or don't... that would be really silly if you did.

So, I'm healthy, and I plan on getting healthier.

After the appointment, I ran some errands... got a PCMCIA network adapter for the old laptop, go some more under-cabinet stemware hangers from that eastern import place, picked up a 'script from Walgreens... kinda enjoyed driving around on this beautiful day.

And speaking of beautiful... there was a full moon last night, and it was.... very. Nice, crisp, clear night, although it's become somewhat cloudy in the last coupla hours... maybe get some rain the last of the week.

I'm planning on getting lots of odd jobs done around here (hmmmm... this sounds vaguely familiar, a lot like the stopping smoking theme....) including cleaning out the gutters and working on the hot tub, getting those leaks fixed. I think that I'll give up on thinking that I can build a cover for it this year... that'll be a summer project.

And it's about noon, and I think that I can go to sleep now and have Karen wake me when she gets home, get turned around right.

Thanx for being here!
