The word for the day is "cold", and the quote for the day is "You don't have to tell me that I'm paranoid... the voices have already informed me of that."
I got up way too early... about 03:30. At approximately 04:30 I was standing out on the front deck smoking and I heard a faint roaring sound that seemed to be increasing. It was not very cold, somewhere in the mid-twenties, and I stood there waiting even after I'd finished smoking. By and by, the tops of the trees started bending to the south... the front was arriving.
Much of the snow melted Friday, it did get above freezing just slightly, and the snow is ugly now, but it still deadens the city sounds enough where I could hear the wind a coupla miles away. Pretty neat.
Right now, it's 4F with a 15MPH northerly wind... the wind today was gusting up to about 50MPH early this morning and continued into late this afternoon. Like I said, cold. Damned cold.
I accomplished nothing today, nothing at all. Well, I did get the sewer working kinda... very slow, but it goes. This is very temporary, I'm afraid. It would be nice if we could keep it going through the winter, or at least until we get an income tax return.
Anyway, I laid down to take a nap about 16:00 and slept until 23:00, more than I really wanted to... I am obviously not going to accomplish a turn-around this rotation, since I go back to work on Monday at 14:30. I really shouldn't even try, it just frustrates me.
I finished reading Red Dragon yesterday morning, it's by the same guy that wrote The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. Crazy stuff, crazy people. Scary crazy.
I think that I'll try to go back to sleep, although that's probably silly... but the water bed is warm and cozy, and so is Karen. And, speaking of Karen, here's the picture that I promised yesterday...
