Natterings, Notions

Notes

I got a really good nights sleep last night, I think that I got up somewhere around 11:00. Karen had been up since around 09:00 and had the paper read and was ready to put me to work... and we did get some work done!

Karen had been wanting to re-arrange the living room for quite a while... five years or so... but the furniture that we have will all only fit in the room one way, and one way only. So we decided to move the big bookcase that I built about 18 years ago into the bedroom, where I could stack my clothes on it in lieu of a dresser.

After a whole lotta work, we found out that... there is no way to get it into that bedroom. So we put it in the computer room. Now I have more space for junk, and less floor space. Which is probably OK, most of my time in there is spent by myself, and maybe I can get it better organized.

Back to rearranging the living room... it was a lot of fun, besides being a lot of work. I had to drill another hole for the cable, and I ran a phone line up the same hole too, just on general principles. Need to find a box, I know htat I've got several around here somewhere... in the basement.

So it's all done, and I even got the stereo hooked back up and working. Well, mostly, I haven't got the bass speaker plugged in, and only one set of speakers for right now.

I don't think that either Karen or I really appreciate the surround sound anyway... that's an oversold concept... pretending like you're in your very own real movie theater. Hell, all that I ever watch is the news and the weather, and my ears (and Karen's) aren't that good anyway.

Speaking of Karen, here's 03aa coupla pix of her and her cousin Jan from sometime in the early 50's.... Jan lives here in Topeka, but we very seldom see them since Jan's mother died ten years ago or so. JD ran around with Jan's son for a while before he (the son, not JD) started doing drugs and getting really wild.03b

Anyway, the living room looks really nice, but the dining room... well, that's filled up with all of the junk from the bookcase and the kid's toys. The TV is now on the west wall, and the corner bookcase is where it was originally. The sectional couch (which won't come apart) was rotated 90 degrees and is now in the southeast corner and the recliner is north of that.

And Karen and I... well, we're both right tard. She hasn't really done any work in two weeks, and it seems that all I do is work...

Speaking of Karen (again) she went to the doc on Friday, he told her that the problem was that the hematoma on her leg was very big, and it would take quite a while to completely heal... like, four more weeks. He told her to use it as much as she can tolerate, and gave her some pain pills to help her tolerate it. She'll go back to work tomorrow... she doesn't seem to be looking forward to it, though.

And I've got a lot of stuff to get done tomorrow... the leaves have finally fallen, and they're all over the ground. Which means that I gotta do for 'em... mow 'em up. I fixed the rake tonight in preparation for the battle... I need a rake to get to the places that I can't mow, then I run over the leaves with the mower and mulch 'em up, then when I'm done with that I put on the bagger and go over them again. I've got quite a pile of clippings and leaves in the corner of the yard, I'm gonna have to do something with it some day.

And I've got a lot of stuff to carry down to the basement, too. 'Bout a hundred trips worth, probably.

Tyler has been uploading a bunch of tunes, he'll be over tomorrow night to burn them... he's running out of room on his HD, imagine that. It'll be really good to see him, I'm looking forward to it.

Looking forward to my nice warm waterbed, too. Think that I'll do that now...

Thanx for being here!
