Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Saturday, December 02, 2000 15:10

I managed to stay up past 21:00 last night, but just barely. Then I slept until 07:15 this morning. Like a log I slept.

After a coupla cups o'tea and some french toast, I was packed and ready to go... I waited until about 09:30, thinking that most of the OU fans would already be in KC for the big12 championship game... for some reason or another I thought it was going to be played at 13:00... I was wrong.

The traffic on I-35 was horrible. The red OU flags were flying on almost every vehicle, and the average speed of those jackasses was about 90MPH. And they were changing lanes constantly, dodging us folks who weren't in any real hurry to get anywhere.

Lotsa beer cans flying out of windows, too. Scary.

South of Emporia, there was a white SUV that flew by, must've been going over 100MPH... I just barely missed getting hit with a beer can from the passenger side, it was thrown straight up into the air as they were passing me.

I really felt sorry for the Kansas Highway Patrol today... so many choices, so little time... about five miles down the road, the SUV was pulled over, and the driver was out of the car leaning on it being frisked. I honked my horn as I went by, giving the smokie a thumbs-up sign.

South of Topeka I hit a little snow shower or three... nothing much, fortunately.

I made it back home about 13:15... I had been doing 80MPH generally, just to avoid getting run down by those maniacs. I usually go just a little above or below the 70MPH speed limit... I don't like to worry about getting ticketed. But like I said, the cops had lots of chances to give tickets out today, and they weren't going to waste their time on someone only going 10MPH over the limit.

Anyway, back home... Karen is out somewhere, I missed her by a half-hour, according to the note that she left.

And I miss Mom already. I wish that she lived closer... there are several things that I thought of that I really needed to do for her as I was driving back... O'well, next time.

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
