Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

I did have a long nap. Longer than I really wanted, unfortunately....

Karen woke me at 14:00, like I had asked her to, but I refused to waken until about 16:45.

I hurridly packed and I was on the road at 18:15 or so, had a really nice drive down. Not too much traffic, and the crescent moon and venus (I think it was Venus, anyway) were beautiful. The moon set about the time I hit Wichita.

I stopped for a while south of Emporia, in the "Heart of the Flint Hills"... got out of the car and just admired the sky for a while. I love looking at the stars, and I so seldom get to see them in their true splendor.

Oceans are nice... and mountains are nice too... but I really like the idea of living out, way out, away from the lights. Having the stars every night, that would be wonderful.

But then there are the problems of living way out... no broadband internet access, maybe no non-long-distance access at all... and no hospitals. Nothing else would bother me.

I got to Enid about 10:30... 260 miles on the trip meter. Mom was glad to see me, I think. Around 00:30 she went to bed, and I went at about 02:00; however, I just tossed and turned for about two hours before I gave up on it.

Yep, my nap was too long. And I did drink a cup of coffee on the way down... well, two, but the second one was decaf.

So maybe I'll stay up all day so I can get turned around right....

11:11...
Nope... not gonna make it all day. Spent a coupla hours fixing Mom's oven... it just needed the jets cleaned, but we moved it out away from the wall and checked it all over and cleaned it all up... it's a heavy sonovabitch, an Admiral, made in the 30's, I think. Extra wide, and about half cast iron. I wasn't very sure that I could get it working, and I was rather surprised that it did.

So, I'm gonna nap, Mom's gonna nap, then we're gonna go eat left-overs at Western Sizzillin'. More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
