I forgot to set my alarm yesterday, and I woke up at 18:00, just enough time to shower and get to work.
It was pretty busy for a while, then it really slowed down; and I decided that, rather than listen to one co-worker's bitching, that I would send her home early.
Most of the time this works out OK, in which case I don't mention it. In this case it didn't. She hadn't been out the door ten minutes when a code red trauma came in. My other co-worker was in surgery doing reductions, so she called in the surgery tech while I did the trauma and the CT scans. It was pretty touch-and-go there for a while, but we got everything done.
It took a while for things to slow down... well, they never really did slow down, but I came home anyway. We probably had ten people come in last night with congestive heart failure... that must be near a record.
About 06:30 I got my flu shot... the nurse told me to be sure to exercise my arm a lot today. I told her the most exercise that I would be able to give it was shifting gears on the way home to my bed. She told me no, I need to set my alarm for every half-hour and lift some weights for five minutes each time. I promised her that I would do just that...
As I mentioned yesterday, my counterpart want to go to days... luckily, her shoulder was healed up enough so that she can come back to work tomorrow night... I'm really looking forward to doing some serious sleeping. O'wait, I was talking about her wanting days work... well, anyway, I talked to my supervisor this morning about putting her on days and I would cover the nights, six out of seven. Ten-hour shifts, and I said that I'd do it until the first of the year.
So I would be working sixty hours and getting paid for seventy or eighty (they might pay 2X for extra work)... this might really help get us out of debt for a while.
Meanwhile, back in the jungle...
One more twelve-hour night left. I have all kinds of ambitious plans, including getting the hot tub going... we'll see what I can carry though with.
Several months ago, or maybe a year, hell, I don't know... I was down at Mom's and she mentioned that she was addicted to Free Cell. So I tried it, and I wasn't really impressed. Then, several months ago or whatever, not good with the time-line here... I downloaded Solitaire Antics DeLuxe. And it has Free Cell, and every other damned solitaire game that you could think of. And I go addicted to Free Cell.
I should have know that anything that was addictive to Mom would be infinitely more so to me. I should have known.
But anyway, I'm running at about 60% on the win rate... that's with lots and lots of hours... it keep track of all of the stats, making it easy to see how addicted you are, dammit.
So... a few more hands, then it's off to bed with me. More, as usual, tomorrow...
