Karen and I got an early start, knowing that I would probably get lost. We were about an hour from the town that we were meeting them in and I didn't get lost until I missed the turnoff. Then I thought that I'd just take the next one and get back to where we started... but that was wrong, really wrong. So we drove for ten minutes in the wrong direction before there was an exit.
We eventually got into the town, and I stopped and asked directions. We were about three blocks from our destination.
When we got there, Renee and Stuart and Erica were waiting for us in the parking lot. We chatted for a while and then went in to eat and continue chatting.
Renee is a really neat lady. I was expecting to be impressed, and I was. Stuart is one of those guys that I immediately like. And Erica... Erica was a ball! Initially just a tad shy, that didn't last for very long.
Renee and I didn't really talk much about journalling, just chatted about various things, getting to know one another. I really wished that we lived closer, dammit.
Renee was all excited about going to the Journalcon the next week, and I was envious. Maybe I'll get to see her at the next one in Chicago... I certainly hope so, anyway.
The visit was way too short. After hugs were exchanged all around, we were on our way back to Raliegh.
Karen and I stopped at a bookstore on the way back and spent a little money... I got a copy of an Ayn Rand book that I've wanted for a long time, and Karen got... hmmm, I forget.
I need to put a disclaimer on the top of these vacation entries that explains that they were written a half-year after the fact...
We got back to Dan and Lynns without getting lost at all! Lynn cooked some wonderful steaks for supper and we spent the evening once again just enjoying each others company.
