Natterings, Notions

Notes

A pretty easy first night back, I'm not really used to that. There are only two patients in the ICU...

Unfortunately, the main CT machine was down for an upgrade, so I had to use the other one again, but I only had three CT patients. It's still a big hassle, though, and such a long ways away!

I'm beginning to think that being tired has not really got too much to do with how much work I do, so it must be an attitude thing... but it's not. Rather, I don't think that it is, but since that's my attitude, maybe it really is.

Busy nights make me really, really tired, but regular nights last last night just make me tired.

One of the bad things about being sober.... when you wake up in the morning, that's the best that you're gonna feel all day. Usta be I would look forward to getting over the hangover...

I have been finding out stuff about medical bills lately. I have two insurances (so that I can go to St. Francis for my heart attacks...) and it takes a while for the docs tand hospitals to get their money. Which is OK by me... but that's beside the point.

They have been sending me bills for their write-offs.

What a write-off is... well, that's the amount that the insurance companies won't pay because it's in excess of the standard charge for the service in your particular area.

The docs and business offices are not supposed to bill you for write-offs. In fact, it's illegal.

But they do it anyway, "accidentally". And many people just go ahead and pay. These crooks are counting on that, and it is very rare for the office or the doc to say, "Gee, you paid us too much money! We shouldn't have billed you for that!" and give the money back.

Not unless, of course, the insurance commission catches them... which is very rare.

So be careful when paying medical bills.

17 Joseph Lieberman reminds me of someone, at first I thought that it was Alfred E Newman, from MAD mag. But I think that it's that guy from Saturday Night Live, the one on the tricycle who kept running into stuff. Or something, I really can't remember... but he was funny.

I really like Lieberman... maybe even enough to where I'll actually look up the spelling on his name.

And tonight... tonight will decide Gore's fate, more or less. For some stupid reason, the Pres has to be charismic. Well, no, I take that back, Nixon was there... Anyway, I hope that Gore surprises me, but I won't be disappointed if he doesn't.

It's getting late.... there's something wrong with that last sentence, but I can't figger it out after reading it over ten times.

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
