Nope, nap didn't work. No big deal

Went to work, it wasn't busy at all. Didn't get busy until about 21:45, then it was steady all night, with a few fast trots here and there.

Before I came in, though... they brought a drowning victim in. A four-year old girl.

There are so many sad things, so many sad stories, that I really become inured to them, until something like this happens. I wasn't even there when she was brought in, but I still had tears welling in my eyes throughout the night thinking about her and her family.

Additionally, I had "Jamaica Farewell" running through my head all night. Harry Belafonte. Kind of a sad song, but upbeat. Never did understand that about Jamaican music.

"Red Sails in the Sunset", another from that era. When I get feeling sad, I seem to remember songs from when I was sad when I was a kid. Which, come to think of it, was most of the time, and I don't really know why.

Hot and muggy here. Supposed to stay that way for a while... yep, it's July, and yep, it's Kansas. And I'm damned glad that I don't live where JD does.

Thunderstorms this morning. In May and June, they usually bring cooler weather... but in July and August, they just seem to increase the humidity. We have had some nice precipitation from this one, though... I probably won't have to water the lawn until Friday...

Tard. Feet hurt, back hurts, legs hurt. Back usually doesn't hurt, but I moved too many patients last night... it was busy all over, impossible to get help.

So, to bed. Gotta get up early, gotta work a twelve tonight, dammit.

More tomrrow...

Thanx for being here!
