I had a nice long talk with JD last night... haven't talked to him in a while. He seems to be doing well, enjoying his new computer.
My plan was to go to bed early last night and get up early today... I got the first part done, but I didn't get up until 05:30 and I wanted to get up about 03:00 or so... so I could get to sleep early today. O'well. Another case of my sleeping plans gone awry.
When I went downstairs to get Tyler up, I found him still up... he worked delivering pizza last night in Lawrence, and didn't get home until 05:00. He just went to bed a few minutes ago. Gotta get him on a daytime schedule somehow... maybe getting a daytime job would be a start.
We showed up at the detox center early, and he had a bunch of papers to fill out. Once that was done, we met the case worker and he took us to an office and talked to both of us for a while, then he ran me off.
Tyler said that the next hour was mostly him filling out questionaires... he said that they did have quite a few religious questions in them, which he left blank. We talked a little about that, and I told him that it didn't really matter who he got help from, whether they were religious or not... just as long as they would help. And, of course, they are required to do that. Plus the counsellor will get a feather in his bonnet if he can convert Tyler... I don't know if he's that kind or not, but I'm sure that some of them are. I ran into quite a few in my short stint with the AA 16 years ago... which is the main reason that I quit going.
After I was expelled from the room, I ran a few errands... filled the truck up with gas, got some cables at the electronics store, drove around the downtown area aimlessly...
I drove by the old house that I lived in when I got out of the army... I lived in the basement, the apartment was like $60 an month... and it was still being lived in, but pretty much falling down.
Three of the four places that Mom and I lived in when we came to Topeka have fallen to the wrecking ball, and I haven't driven by the fourth one lately to see if it's still there.
Anyway, after I picked up Tyler, we went to the electronics store again and got him a part for something he's putting together for sound effects, then we came on home.
We called JD, and I think that Tyler talked to him for an hour or so. JD will be coming up on the Fourth of July, I'm really looking forward to seeing him... and so will Tyler and Karen. JD has been through the program, and will be able to help Tyler out, I think. Right now, Tyler seems to be sailing pretty well... but I know how swiftly the winds can change on that voyage. Many of the people in the narc-anon group yesterday were back for the umpteenth time...
Now I think that I will go to bed, and hopefully to sleep? Work tonight.
