Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Well, my "little nap" wound up being about six hours. When I got up, Kim and the kids were here, but Karen and Kim and Lacee soon left to go eat, leaving Patrick and me alone... and he was soon asleep, watching the cartoon channel.

So I spent my time, as usual, on the web. What did I ever do before I got into computing and the internet? Well, I read a lot, for one thing... but I wasn't really any more productive than I am now, which is to say, not very.

Karen, Kim and Lacee came home, then Kim woke up Patrick and went home with him, leaving Lacee behind. She and Karen went to sleep about 22:30, after making a place on the couch for me to put Lacee when I came to bed.

Which I did about 04:00... and I slept for about an hour-and-a-half. I got up and went to the bathroom and sat down at the computer to check the progress of a download that I was doing... and Lacee snuck off of the couch and got back into bed with Karen.

And I just can't sleep in the same bed with Lacee, it's a proven fact. So I found some other stuff to do... loaded the dishwasher, washed some clothes, tried to plan a strategy for storing all of the files that I have in my download folder...

My 30-GIG drive is full. Yep. Time to start up the CD burner and get all of them off the HD and onto CDs.

The problem is, as usual with me, organization. Each drive that I've used for downloads is organized differently, depending on how I was thinking at the time. Which translates to: horribly disorganized.

I hope that I can do better next time...

Karen is going in to work some this morning after she takes Lacee home, and I'm going back to bed for a while. I'll probably get up when Karen comes home... she wants to clean up the back deck. Her cousin Phil is coming from 03.jpgSan Antonio tonight and she wants the house to be presentable... Phil makes the rounds of all of the surviving relatives every coupla years. He'll be in Wichita this morning seeing Karen's mom and sister, then to Manhattan to see another cousin, then here... I don't know where he's going from here, maybe back home. Until recently, he brought his wife along with him, but she hasn't come the last several times.

Tonight I'm going to work on the Linux machine, get everything hooked up through that. I've read the books and all of that and I'm ready to try again. If it should happen not to work, I can always go back to the way I have them now and not lose anything.

I'm also thinking about putting WIN2K on my main machine, just to see if it'll work any better than 98 for the ICS, if the Linux solution proves to be too much for my poor brain...

Also, sometime this weekend, I need to get the guttering fixed so that the water from the roof drains into the pipe that I put in... the last two rains that we've had dug a pretty good hole in the lawn... and speaking of the lawn, it's looking pretty good. Still got some pretty bare spots, need to get some more seed out... but overall, it's pretty nice.

Tyler mowed the other day, but I haven't actually laid eyes on him for ten days... I think that he's avoiding me. He hasn't been home at all for the last coupla days, either... don't know where he is.

OK, Karen's getting ready to go, and it's nap time for me...

Thanx for being here!
