Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Again, up too early. The bedroom that I sleep in at Moms' is on the east side, and the sun is terribly bright...

Mom fixed me breakfast, bacon and eggs and toast, then we took her automatic blood pressure cuff over to loan it to LeRoy, Moms' cousin Retas' husband. He has Parkinsons', and it's painful to watch him... every time I'm with a Parkinsons' patient, I just want to say "Stop it! Settle down!" which is just what they want to do but can't.

My buddie Jess had told me that he was working near Moms' house, and he was going to come over about noon and take us out for pizza... but he still wasn't there at 12:30, so I ate some meat and potatoes that Mom had cooked up.

I had thought about taking a nap, then going back to Topeka, but I decided that I'd get on the road instead, and take a nap when I got home... I should've known better.

It's just about as hard saying bye to Mom as it is JD, dammit.

The trip back was marred by a cruel north wind... I was still wearing my cut-offs, which were appropriate in Texas, and even in Oklahoma the night before... but it was cold!

So here I was, heading north, and the wind was from the north, with gusts up to 50 MPH. The chrome (plastic) trim on the toyota is glued on, and will withstand speeds up to, say, 85 MPH. I was going 70, and with the 50 MPH gusts, that calculates out to, uh, 120 MPH wind. Bye, bye, chrome (plastic) trim... some of it was designed to make the cab quieter, 'cause when it was gone it got awfully noisy.

I got home about 17:30, and nobody was home... checked the home network out, and it was down. I noticed that Tyler had re-booted when I was in Texas and I wondered at the time what had happened. Doing some quick checking, I found that there were multiple instances of the network cards installed. Didn't understand that at all...

Shortly after I got home, Karen and Lacee came home... thay are both as cute as ever, of course. Lacee wanted to ride her bike home (yes, they are back home now...???), so we followed her home. We went inside, and I noticed that Steve had bought a new 19-inch monitor... I want one of those.

We got home, and Tyler pulled up. He and I sat down for a little conference, and he went out, ostensibly to look for a job... he came back in about an hour and we had another conference and then we went out to eat... he hadn't eaten for several days, it seems.

We had a really good talk, and he is willing to make some changes... we'll see how that works out. Tomorrow, he's going to go do some applying, then he's going to spend the rest of the weekend helping me with the yard... that's the plan, anyway.

And my plan, right now, is to go to bed... it's way past my bedtime!

Thanx for being here!
