Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

I didn't get up until about 09:30... I slept hard and well. I got JD up after the coffee was made and we just sat around and visited for quite a while. It was a beautiful day, with the high around 78 or so. We did some work with his antaenna, hooking it up to his stereo... it was well about 78 degrees F in his attic.

We also spent some time working with his computer, trying to get it do connect at more than 31,200... we failed at that, but now it maintains a good connection... but while we fixed that, it now locks up on a way-too-frequent basis.

It's a Packard-Bell, a 166 Pentium, with 24 MB... that should pretty well explain everything. When he was in Topeka, I gave him a 56K modem, and it seemed to work fine up there, but it doesn't hook up too well with SHSU for some reason or another...

Luckily, his Mom wants to get him a new machine... so we're not going to go overboard gettting this one tuned up.

Speaking of JD, I'm pretty damned proud of him... he made the Deans' List!

This evening, his girlfriend came over, her name's Lara, pronounced Laura... very nice young lady. We spent a coupla hours chatting, then went down to The Kettle and we all had breakfast-type food and lotsa coffee Probably way too much coffee... it'll take me forever to get to sleep, I'm afraid...

Nasty storms in South Carolina, where Brother Dan lives... nasty storms around Enid, where Mom lives... and it looked like it might snow in Topeka tonight, where Karen is... I sure miss her. But she did call today... the refrigerator quit working. She described noises like the compressor was running, but the circukation fan had gone out.

Well, I've got another circulation fan... somewhere in the basement... but I'm not there to put it in. She was going to have Andy come over and look at it. I can't really remember where I put the fan motor, but I'm sure that if I was there I would have no trouble at all finding it... but, again, I'm not there.

I will probably head back to Enid on Tuesday, and back to Topeka on Thursday... those are my plans right now, but they are subject to change. One of the things that could change that is the fact that I think that the clutch is going out on the truck... O'well, if it finally does, I'm sure that it will be at the most inconvenient time possible...

Time for bed... I don't know if the coffee will keep me up or not, but my body is tired and wants to lay down. More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
