Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Yet another busy day... busier than I anticipated. But first things first... I got a crummy night's sleep... I decided to try sleeping without the fans or noise machines. Silly me. And my cold has returned, so no CPAP... more on that in a minute.

Karen said that I kept waking her up by grinding my teeth... yep, it was that kind of night. I finally got up around 05:00, after going to bed about 01:00. Even for me, that's not enough sleep.

I'd promised Eileene that I'd go over and help her with her computer this morning, so I was there at 08:00, thinking it'd take a coupla hours, but I didn't get out of there until after noon. Interesting problems... I won't go into it, but we set up her printer, zip drive and scanner, besides upgrading the software. She needs to get a bigger HD... I'm enjoying mine, so far.

Anyway, it was nice being able to spend some time with her... she has changed shifts, and I hardly ever see her any more, and I miss her at work. She gives really good backrubs... work has not been conducive to backrubs recently, dammit.

After I got done with that, I went to buy a good pair of shoes for work. I went to a shoe store, thinking that I might get some good service and some advice... I was wrong about that.

So I tried on shoes for an hour, finally leaving the store empty-handed. I was going to get a pair of house shoes too, since mom had sent me some birthday money to replace my holey ones, but I figgered that I'd get them when and where I got my work shoes.

The place that I went to had a broad selection of styles, but very little in the way of anything other than a medium width in size 12. I probably tried on 50 pairs, looking for one that felt good, and none of them even came close. And the clerks were running around trying to clear the aisles of the stacks of boxes that they didn't have room for on the shelves... ignoring me completely. Kinda pissed me off, actually.

So I came home and spent some time on Napster... I decided that I want all of the beatles stuff, now that I've got the room for it...

And then there was a knock on the door... a guy that had wanted to buy the Caddie last fall had returned (finally) with two of his friends, who were interested in it.

Andy had come over last night and changed the tire on it, putting the spare on (which was flat, too...) and moved it off of the street. Anyway, I am really hopeful that these guys will come back tonight with some money, I will gladly let them have the damned thing...

O'yeah, I forgot to mention... that headache that I had yesterday? I still have the son-of-a-bitch, and I'm tired of it. I think that it's a hangover from that flu stuff that I had last week...

I was planning on going to bed when the guys came over to look at the car, so I gave up on that and made a pot of coffee instead. I hadn't had any since this morning... but I need to stay up all night if I'm gonna get any sleep tomorrow, and lotsa coffee is the only way that'll happen now...

Anyway, back to the cold thing that I mentioned in the first paragraph... I've been corresponding with a guy named Skeezix (not his real name, I'm sure) who is thinking about starting a journal. He also uses a CPAP, and he told me that he used to have colds all of the time before he started flushing out his sinuses on a regular basis with saline solution. So I thought I'd give that a try... it makes sense, the sinuses never really get cleared up as long as there's old bacteria hanging around in them, so regularly cleaning them out sounds like a cure, or at least a help.

However, the thought of it is not really too pleasant, so I've been putting off trying it... but I think I will start doing that tonight. I did a little research on it, and it's done regularly in the Scandinavian countries... they even sell a little pitcher with a spout that fits in your nostril... have I grossed everyone out yet? OK, enough.

I've been busy computer-wise lately, too, de-fragging all of my HDs. Time-consuming, but worthwhile.

The guys that were looking at the Caddie haven't come back yet... I probably shouldn't count on them, huh.

Later...
I tried the sinus flushing thing... it really wasn't that bad. I think that I'll do that once or twice a day for a month or so and see if it helps.

And Karen is home now, watching her show... when it's over, I think that we'll go out to eat somewhere, it's been a while...

And I'm fighting off sleep... the coffee isn't really doing that much good, it seems...

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
