The first real, full day of spring, it is. I like that about this day.
Many other things I don't like about it... for instance, how tired I am on this day. That, naturally, is because I had to work like a dog last night.
I always wondered how that expression came about. I've had dogs, and none of them worked. I've never seen other people's dogs work, either, come to think of it. Are we looking at a great untapped source of energy here? And how about cats? Talk about underutilization!
Anyway, I said that 'cause I'm tired of saying that I worked my ass off. That is crude, just plain crude... and muchly overused, too. Especially here.
The pace started off fast and remained that way throughout the night. The most memorable exam that I did was on an 11-month-old boy... a barium enema (a study of the colon) and he fought like a little tiger. We were looking for an intussaception, where the terminal ileum (the last part of the small bowel) starts telescoping into the cecum (the first part of the colon). He didn't have one, though.
I wonder what makes people think these kids are sick sometimes... that was one of the healthiest and strongest kids I've seen in a while. And I've got the fingernail marks to show it...
And then, to top it off, instead of coming home and going right to bed, I start messing around with the computers. Stupid, I am. Just getting farther behind. I need a coupla days to get this all straightened out, and I've got another three nights to work still... one twelve and two ten-hour nights. I'm looking forward to Friday, when I will probably sleep 24 hours...
OK, off to bed, me. Have a fun day...
