Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Monday, 17 January 2000... MLKJr Day.

And again I woke up, snorting and sneezing, about 04:00. The cat wasn't in the room... I checked.

About 05:00 I went to the store and got some doughnuts and some milk. I really like going to 24/7 stores when they're almost empty... hate going when they're crowded. They had what seemed like a thousand shopping carts all lined up... waiting for the onslaught.

Karen didn't get up until about 09:30... she'd been really tired Sunday night. She'd bought a really pretty Fichus tree on sale in Wichita, and she wanted to get some clear lights for it. She really liked the xmas tree, and wanted something with lights on it year-round, so now we have it. Kinda 60s, but I like it.

I did most of the preliminary work on the wall over the bar, but I was having to blow my nose every three minutes, and I was totally exhausted by the time I got that part done, so I left the mudding for another day.

There's gotta be something around here that I'm allergic to. I was OK Sunday morning when I woke up, no runny nose or red eyes... I think that it must be Karen?

At any rate, I'm gonna keep the cat out of the bedroom... he's got the rest of the damned house to roam in, after all.

The problem is... Karen likes to sleep with the door open, whereas I like to sleep with it closed. That has been a problem with us ever since we were married... I hate having my sleep interrupted for any reason... kids yelling or cats jumping on me. A closed door takes care of most of that... that and the white noise generator.

Karen, on the other hand, never gets her sleep interrupted... she can sleep through anything... and go to sleep anywhere. In five damned minutes.

I am, of course, jealous, but that does me no good whatsoever.

So anyway... this being MLK day, Patrick is out of school. He calls about 11:00 or so, and then he comes over. Kim was sick this morning, but felt well enough to go in about 10:00...

Karen tells me that she and Patrick are going out to eat... and they come back in three hours. While they were gone, I got a shave and a haircut and a shower, thinking that might make me feel better... it didn't.

And I'm about ready to fall asleep in my chair, but I don't want to go to bed... for one thing, Karen would get mad at me... for another, that's not the way I want to transition into the work week... it's a day too early.

And I'm hoping that I can get a good night's sleep and get some work around here done tomorrow. Like I said earlier, I did get a good start, but I pooped out way too soon...

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
