Snow... and not just a little bit, either, like the weather peeps said. Six inches of wet, heavy snow. Just right for snowballs and snowmen.

I really feel like rambling, but I'm trying not to. I was up all night last night with the Linux, finally got the SOB working around 06:00 with the help of some people on the other side of the world (I think...)

But...
About 03:00 I went out onto the front deck, to smoke and watch the snow come down. About that time, the neighbor's sidelight came on (he has it on a very sensitive motion detector) and I kinda stepped out from under the overhang onto the snow to see what turned it on.

Kinda stepped, kinda slipped. Didn't fall down go boom, but I twisted the hell out of my back avoiding falling. It really didn't hurt much at the time, but as the night progressed the pain increased. And I've got a big knot in my lower right paraspinal muscles that won't go away.

So I took some pills and went to bed about 06:30, after surveying the damage done when the roof fell down on the back deck... it's been going for a while, and I was going to replace the rotten piece but I never did... another job to do...

Anyway, I slept for about... two hours. I woke up sneezing with a damned cat on my face. Karen had put Sam in the bedroom to keep Monster away from him, then forgot to get him out. So that was the end of the sleeping...

However, the house is quiet right now, and I think that I'll try again... more later.

19:16...
Nah, that didn't work either, dammit. Couldn't get to sleep. Anyway, everyone came back and got ready to go to Drew's birthday party.... number four, it was. I don't really know when his birthday is, but the party was today.

And I put in a brief appearance, but my back was killing me so it was short... I came home and collapsed in the recliner and watched the Chief's game. When Karen came home, she found the heating pad for me and that helped some... but the benefits seem to go away after about ten minutes.

Karen took Brian back to Lawrence, and about a half-hour ago I stepped (carefully, y'know...) out on to the deck to have a cigarette. Cars were going pretty slow down the street like it was really slick or something. Then there was a little red pick-up that came by and stoped down the road a bit and was put into reverse... the back-up lights came on... and I thought that is was surely Tyler, forgetting how to get home... but it wasn't, it was a neighbor, he'd overshot his driveway because of the ice. There are about ten people on this street with little red trucks, and Tyler and I are two of them...

5 After that, I noticed a very bright light appear in the sky... I thought that maybe it was the police chopper way up high for some reason. But the light slowly got dimmer and it slowly drifted off to the south until I couldn't see it any more. It probably didn't move more than five degrees before it was gone... way too slow for a meteor, or anything else that I can think of.

So, that automatically puts it in the category of... UFO! Which things I don't believe in at all... but it was flying (or falling...) and I didn't (don't) know what it is (was) ergo.... UFO.

Karen's back from Lawrence now, and I think that I'll go to bed shortly... not nearly enough sleep lately, but I do feel good about getting the Linux machine going.

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
