Six billion people. That's way too many... who's keeping track of this, anyway?

And, more importantly, who's keeping track of the cats? There are probably six billion cats, too, and I need to find out who's keeping track of them. 'Cause I've got some news for them...

Cowboy is dead. Well, missing and presumed dead. Missing for a week... three days is the most that he's ever been gone before. He gets sick and finds a hiding place and lays there and heals... or dies, as is the case this time probably.

He was the last of the old cats... about 14 years old, and still pretty lively... well, lively probably isn't a good word with which to describe him right now, I guess.

And I will miss him, mostly, although he was never a very friendly cat. I've heard tales that Tyler had something to do with that, though, but I never did hear the whole story.

One thing that I won't miss, though... he had the bad habit of marking his territory. And his territory was the world...

Anyway, there was an arbitrary baby chosen to be the honored six billionth... I wonder what his life will be like... being chosen at birth to be famous. What a burden.

Six billion... and we're better off, as a whole, than we've ever been. Sure, a relatively small percentage is lost due to starvation, but not nearly as many as in past years... and the wars will be with us for quite a while yet. But the threat of global nuclear war is almost over, as is the threat of world-wide famine.

I wish that I could live for the next hundred years, just to see the wonders that are still left in this world being discovered...

Not a bad night for a Friday... kinda pleasant, actually. Started off fairly busy, but tapered off after midnight. I didn't have to x-ray any drunks, which is nice. However, I got to bed too late yesterday, and I got up too early, so I'm pretty well tuckered out. I've got to get the grandkids and Karen out of bed so I can go snuggle up... the weather is turning colder, and, as the day people say, it's a great day for sleeping...

Yeah, they're ALL great days for sleeping... and if you don't believe that, just watch me...

Thanx for being here!
